Screen Shots & Obituaries / Re: Level 10 Warlock

For better or worse, no matter how much Miranda Marlin taught her various fabrege elf apprentices, they could never learn her ultimate technique and the true source of her power-

not dying to a times 3 spear crit into a panic second AoO times 3 spear crit

I started playing EFU back at the tail end of v5 in the last year. While I've only had three long term PCs they were, I like to think, successful and engaged with the world as it presented itself and that the players and were engaged with in turn. Loved and hated by turns. While they were all relatively low key political creatures, they at least rarely inspired indifference in the playerbase.

I would at times tongue-in-cheek say that Mari and Mebril were glorified NPCs in some respects. Mari served as a sort of hub cleric to create a presence for the Wheel and for her god in the Well and for the players, and providing outlets and opportunities for the adrift, the downtrodden, the neglected. Mebril in her time in Grey Keep oversaw some thirty or forty key challenges, tossing out tasks (mostly art stuff) to several months worth of ringrunners. Miranda, an awoken, joined the Torchbearers and eventually fledged to start her own company that engaged and hired over a dozen scouts over its run. Harpy Squad was a lot of fun.

I swear I did not only use M names on my long term PCs on purpose.

Playing and hanging out with folks here has been a lot of fun, else I would not have done so for so long in defiance of some personally directed hostilities. It has been decided for me that I should "move on." Apologies if this leaves anyone in a lurch. It was not my choice. Thank you for the memories. You were a lovely group of players to tell a story with.

Miranda Marlin and Cawford are off to the sea lanes until further notice, if you need an in game explanation for her absence to play around.

I can be reached on discord.

Suggestions / Re: Change how carrying bodies works
June 22, 2024, 03:11:29 PM
I don't know if I'd call an event where two people died as functionally non-perma. Dragging people was definitely a risk because more enemies were being spawned constantly, making it costly and dangerous to do so. I am aware of at least one person who went down because they lagged behind dragging someone.

Body dragging is a nice compromise for some events, especially when someone might just eat a 98 damage spear crit out of stealth during it, and if the event is structured around it (it was).

-ac/ab might just change the calculus of who should be carrying bodies. Moves it from strong guys to expertise guys or people who don't swing at things. Which is okay, maybe! Slow just makes more intuitive sense to me even if it is a giant hassle for kidnappers.

We have Hives on the upper board at home.

It's called Pit of Sacrifice.

Unironically, cast Divine Power. Perfect post-change use case for a +7 AB swing to hit for low str clerics.

Alejandro Benezar was the iconic bard of V6 and it isn't even close.

Every Don Nadie PC is great but Alejandro was one of your best. Embracing the setting and the people and the players and blending it all together into something magical. Incredible body of work and I am going to miss looking on the forum for new journals and poems by him. I ended up interacting with Alejandro with two very different characters from two very different angles and both were very enjoyable rides.

It is possible to religiously keep extended PfG for 8 months and not get caught out by paladins. It's like a little mini-game.

I will be wrapping a few things up in the coming days and then be taking an indefinite break.

Animal companions for rangers and druids and etc should be immune to the dismissal spell as they are not summoned creatures nor from some other strange planar source.

That's all.

Well, practically the problem is the reactions from NPCs are going to be idiosyncratic to the DMs available so I am not sure this will solve your issue.

I mean I would still be happy never to hear about Motism again.

Suggestions / Let Ashfolk Cast Foiled Future and Variants

While technically a hostile spell, Foiled Future seems like an extremely Ashfolk thing to be able to cast.

Poisoning a weapon is such a niche stratagem it doesn't really need more barriers. Let the thugs slick their warmace flanges with spider venom.

I appreciate that casting PHK or Slay Living on someone and them making the saving throw is more likely to catch you an attempted murder charge than succeeding on an instant death spell while on subdual or blackout.

Trying to explain to the cops as you are dragged away "I was casting Subdue Living, I swear."
