Suggestions / Bone Warden: 1/day Exhume
April 03, 2025, 11:04:14 AM
As it stands, Bone Warden Sorcerers get outed OOC the moment they happen to rest near another person, due to the bones they get given on rest showing up as an item added to their inventory in the chat log.

Changing it to a 1/day power to exhume a random set of skeleton bones gives almost the exact same effect, except 1) It doesn't instantly out them by resting and 2) it doesn't constantly fill up their inventory with skeleton bones they inexplicably found underneath the cobblestones of the Krak bunk room.

Suggestions / Bard Song: Modini Sea Shanty
March 23, 2025, 11:51:20 AM
Modini Sea Shanty

A Sea Shanty common around the coastlines of the Ash Desert to those who navigate the Cold and unforgiving seas by the stars, but to the Modini to whom the stars are more than just a beacon it is elevated to almost a Hymn of protection.

I don't know if this is Even possible, but if it is it would be an amazing quality of life change.
QuotePhilip Meet's Positive Ministrations

Level 1: 1d10 HP healed to caster and allies
Level 3: 2d10 HP healed to caster and allies

This song functions as a single, instant effect rather than a continuous buff like other songs. If it could in some way be made to provide it's Heal even to allies under the effect of another Bard's song, it would give Bards without curse song a way to use their resources to contribute when another bard is already buffing the group and give a handy purpose to a song that is otherwise impossibly niche in it's use.

The fact of there being one song consistently better than others is itself the issue though. The whole point of having a whole catalogue of bard songs is Variety.

If people then choose to just go default because the still incredibly good defensive song isn't a catch all solution to every problem anymore that's a player side thing.

I'm not saying the nerf is a perfect solution, I'm all for raising up all bard songs to be best song in their own situations, but it is a solution that doesn't require asking the DMs to drag through very old systems with a fine tooth comb to there being one near universally best song, compared to default being just OK at everything but not best at anything.

Bringing all the songs in line with this one while maintaining their unique niches and making sure they all have a situation to shine would be amazing,  But asks far more of the DMs than just lowering one song down a little to give others a reason to be used.

I'll happily suggest a full bard song review when I can at least give in depth suggestions as to what can be changed where instead of just going "this is bad, fix it."

Suggestions / Nerf Elsbeth’s Chronicle of Companions

As it stands I think this song is far too good as It provides amazing defence buffs, while also providing an unresisted damage bonus. This makes it near unarguably the best song to use in almost any situation

I would suggest the AC bonus be reverted to vs evil only as listed on the song sheet, and the damage type changed to physical and/or reduce the damage and AB bonus.

This would maintain its niche and theme as a defensive buff for a large group holding the line against evil, while giving other songs more opportunity to shine offensively.

Suggestions / Move Whispering Winds to Bard 1

Bard slots are a premium resource compared to other casters, and this is a fun and thematic spell.

Astrologers already get it at 1st circle, I think bards deserve it there too.

I've come to realize I'm not playing one role here, but many.

When writing reports, I'm Pilot Priestess Catalina from The Lantern's Eye. In battle, the flashy corsair Esme de Malia from that short lived and probably poor taste musical adaptation of March of the Lezrous. And talking to the Legates on matters of politics I take on the part of Lady Astrid D'Ambra and her silver tongue (I don't know if Sergeant Reyer ever saw that one but if not his near perfect portrayal of her brutish assistant Claudius was a wonderful coincidence, especially since he himself is so different).

I came here to try and escape my past, but even now it informs everything I do. A new stage, a new scene, but the same roles.

But now I choose who I play, I can be Cordelia in name only. I'll wear whatever mask I need at the time, and I've amassed quite the collection.

Eventually one should fit, and that will be the new Cordelia.
I hope she makes better choices than I did.

Citizen Cordelia Ward...

It's official now, I suppose. Ephia's Well is my home. A toga and a piece of paper give a very different message than a Knife, but the principle is the same. I matter here now.

The last few days have been rocking waves, tossing and turning every which way. Singing a duet with an Ashl Ashfolk I fear I may even slowly be becoming friends with, into A Djinn explosion and face stealers, into a winning streak at the cards table and a rush I've not felt in years, Into the most chaotic warzone I've faced since I joined the Legion, Into citizenship.

Just have to stay strong, keep up the role, and try to never think about how over my head I am.

I've been drawing from when starred in a dramatic interpretation of "The Lantern's Eye", the Salty old Pilot-Priestess turned watchwoman who stuns all the Academics at the Academy when her worldly ways and street-smarts solve a case which baffles their scholarly ways. Sages be praised the Author enjoyed putting all the little reports in the footnotes, what was dull reading at the time becomes perfect fuel.

Come to think of it, that was one of the plays directly comissioned by [There is a blot, as if a pen were held above the page overlong]

The weight is still heavy around my neck. I'm not sure I'll ever be rid of it really, even if I weren't wearing the reminders. Trying to escape my past while not even being able to make myself take off the pieces of it.

But they remind me to be better, even if I've already damned my next.
I'll never forget it, but I can start anew here despite it.

He won't follow me here.

A new chapter opens, and I'm wearing the Sultan's green and getting blessings from Wheelfolk. If only La Matrona could see me now.

I wouldn't have expected any of this a few years ago, but who knew two years is all it takes to burn down a life if you've left someone enough kindling? Even as I try to leave it all behind pieces of home keep getting sifted from the ashes. An old familiar buckler a merchant shipped in is as much a comfort as it is a burden.

But, I must look to the future. My new companions seem fine enough, and they don't pry. I doubt I'm the first to take up their colours running from something. My swordsmanship is Rusty and mostly flair but it translates well enough to an actual fight, and I think they like having a song or two to keep their spirits up.

The wellfolk are varied, but not so bad. Even the ashlings have been decent if occasionally insufferably naive or smug in the process.

I still don't know who I'm going to be here yet, but I've always known how to fix that. Explore the role, try and retry the lines until they feel right, keep reshaping yourself until you click into the part.

Just play the role until it feels real, and the weights around my neck aren't so heavy anymore.

Oh, and I got a bird. Apparently 'Kula' will reveal his name. The Sages must already be plotting my next with a vengeance by now...

Apothars Azimi

We have met briefly once or twice, and I fear I did not make the best impression.

I'd like the opportunity to talk, and clear up any misunderstandings we had on our first meeting.
It wasn't my intent to offend or insult, and it's become far clearer that the nature of your work as a Witch of Fate and Time has extremely interesting potential.

Barely got to know Grenth, but I don't think I went a single day without hearing someone talking about him. An utterly amazing first character!

Trying to get on more, but got a lot of prep to do over the next few days!
