Carrot,
Don't know if this will ever reach you, but hope you're still out there so that it might and that they haven't buried you in a ditch somewhere.
They made a sergeant of the backstabbing greed-driven brick-for-brains Rhuk Nor in your stead. Fourth makes its own Misfortune.
That's the last nail in the coffin. Elara and myself are out.
Should've told us you were making the run, you could've had the company. You still have brothers-in-arms in us.
If you read this, get in touch.
Horizons become footing!

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Rur Aksa
May 19, 2024, 10:15:34 AM
Hi,
I really should have done this some time ago as it's now already quite a while since I was logged in.

Real life caught up with me so that I've not been able to devote the time necessary to continue playing Rur.

I'm posting mostly just to express my gratitude to both fellow players and DMs who made this stint of efu, as it always is, a wonderful experience. I've really appreciated the interactions and the support.

The basic premise of Rur Aksa was to explore the intersection of stonefolk cultural dislike of violence with the brutality of the paladin oath of the headsman. I tried to be as literal in interpretation of the oath as possible, taking to weapon only against evil foes, rather wrestling the wolf come only to hunt for food. Urazzari teachings say to stone the sinner, hence in the same manner the choice of weapon fell to the (stone) maul.

From there I had not planned where to go, and interactions and exploration of philosophy from the outlook of the alien stonefolk mindset brought me through the game world. Progress and influence on a larger scale was sometime slow, but present through that was the conversations and interactions, making such symptomatic to the character and his development, rather than detrimental to the experience. I truly cherished the experience, and all of you for being part of it.

I'll be back with something else, sometime! The efu itch is growing even as I write this, and I hope sooner rather than later I'll find the time to spare for this world.

Late last year I wanted to be able to get back into EFU but needed a character that wasn't dependent on me being on every day; but still providing some conflict and challenge everytime I was on. The fact that I'm completely inept at anything mechanics and decided on a kobold sorc was questioned by some (primarily my brother), but I've never regretted it.

As I didn't exactly expect for Kraka to survive as long as he did, the basic concept was simple. A kobold ooze savant who's affinity for slime originated in his own constantly runny nose, the semisentient ooze companion being the product of not just snot being clown out but some of his brains with it. The name Kraka derives from the swedish word "Kråka", meaning booger. All mature and well thought through concept.

Kraka was created on the 14th of december 2019 and died on the 13th of may 2020, marking just 5 months. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and recommend it to anyone who wants to try the more challenging side of efu. Running around the drips at lvl 2-3 without even being able to cast invis, knowing full well around any corner could be a random pc that would mean death (or just a random sewer croc, seeing as I didn't get the app in for the first week or two).

Amazingly, Kraka survived not just a lot of near deaths, but also a couple of accidental ones, and on the other end of the spectrum experienced a brief stint of immortality. I remember at least three occassions of getting more or less one shot to negatives by PCs and then being left to bleed out, but successfully making the recovery rolls.

"Oops"

Other end of the spectrum, took dmg, apparently couldn't be subdued. Win EFU?
[/hide]

I wasn't the only one to be surprised with the longevity
[hide=How are you alive?]

After the first few weeks of random running around, SFP picked Kraka up for his Urr sewer plot which resulted in some amazing moments of character development, promoting Kraka as the speaker of Urr. While it really didn't have any big inpact ingame, it meant a lot for one little kobold and his player.
[hide=Meeting the Urr Mage]

The associated loot that came to mean a lot for my portraying of Kraka's relationship with the, very closely, surrounding slime.
[/hide]

The Urr plot also brought along a first batch of allies.
[hide=The Urr Truce]

Meeting Nazrin.

Kobolds and gnomes on the same team.

The Urr gang, or part of it.

Saying goodbye to an old friend.
[/hide]

[hide=A final meeting with an old mentor]
Just before the end, Kraka met with the Urr Mage one last time for a final lesson, taking on his mantle both literally and  figuratively. A crowning achievement for a pathetic little kobold.[

[/hide]

Most of his pathetic life, however, Kraka ran around scavenging randoms and low level quests and narrowly escaping death by just about any PC that he ran into. Turns out, as a monster sorc you have very little to spend gold on, and low level quests and randoms deliver a lot of gold. Ignoring all the potions, ash and random items, Kraka got piñatad for a total of more than 21000 gold by other PCs. At most he had some 9500 gold on him. Kobold lyfe rich lyfe.
[hide= IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND]

Amazingly enough didn't happen just once. Also, thanks Stranger for helping with the COLLECTPACKPANIC.
[/hide]
Other random shots:
[hide=Just another day in the Ponds]

[/hide]
[hide=Posing]

[/hide]

Thanks to everyone I've run into the last few months and to the DMs as a whole and particularily for to Dillusionist for that early support, and of course SkillFocusPwn for all the attention and the Urr plot!

[hide=The End]

Ps. I actually made lvl 8. And on a kobold. Who would've though.
[/hide]

Items are appearing, just the message missing them. So far noted on Halfjack in ponds interior, longsword and potion of speed if I remember correctly.

I'm connecting it in time to the bug with server message on entering full pvp area becoming only [server]

When succeeding the persuade check for showing more hares when opening a shop, the server messege now reads [Persuade Skill]: You persuade the vmerchant to show some more of their wares. Now available:" And then it's just left blank, even though the "new" items can be found in the shop.

In the fire troll pit in the magma chambers there is a hot red mist that deals fire dmg. Apparently the "mist, giant, red" can be destroyed by AoE spells (in this case mestil's acid breath). The dmg triggers still remain though which may cause unfair dmg to a later party entering the area.

Bug Reports / Ooze savant and Augment familiar
January 28, 2020, 08:31:37 PM
The spell augment familiar does not affect the special Ooze summon familiar the ooze savant recieves, returning the error message that "Your familiar is not nearby" (or something similar).

On a similar note, the /v s command (summon) is used to speak through the ooze, not /v f (familiar).

Bug Reports / Old bodies in Orbs quest destructible
December 30, 2019, 05:47:56 PM
I guess it's thematically correct that an acid spray would dissolve not only eyeballs but also the odd old body it could happen to hit, I presume it's not meant for the loot containers of the quest to be destructible, especially not by accident.

Also true for Exploration-City-Dripping Chambers.

The above mentioned area does not register as sewer for the purpose of sorcerer ooze savant DR etc bonusen.

In this area (and the boss area) there are a couple of statues that are hostile, not just to pc:s but also to the spawns (including the boss), which causes the spawns to just attack the statues while being stabbed in the back.

However, it also seems the quest giver doesn't approve of this strategy because there's no end reward.

Tried taking this quest today. Quest placeable says Party size 1-5, lvls 2-5, this was with a single lvl 5 pc (Karrak Gherbast, account Oskar Maxon).
Was able to take the quest, got quest invite tool and update in bombat log, however when trying to enter the area I get the messege: "[EFU Quest area]You decide against entering without more preparation of company".

Updating quest by "adding>" other members either by quest token or by placeable did not solve this.

Bug Reports / Re: Magical damage on falling
January 26, 2019, 11:12:44 AM
According to the wiki, Gust of wind spell is changed to also deal damage if the faster has sf:evocation,
Spell Focus Evocation deals 2d4 magical damage (fall damage) to all who fail the fortitude save.
Greater Spell Focus Evocation deals 3d4 magical damage to all who fail the fortitude save.

If it is fall damage as indicated, should it not be bludgeoning as well?

In Ring 100, the Map pin for the gate to Ring 101 says "Ring 100".

General Discussion / Re: I am Howlando, AMA

QuoteWhat was it with Varlam Nikitovich being a living clerk in the HoG for all of EfU:R? I'm absolutely certain he suicided by poison publically in EfU1.

As much as I would like to say it was some kind of complex scheme involving a thrall from Intryzz, Netherese Seers Scheming to control the End, the grasping intrigue of a pickled Tube Woman..... really, it was just purely an OOC oversight, I had forgotten he had died. I liked the PC and just wanted to have a little homage to a really nice old HOG clerk PC and have him as a NPC hanging around.

I think I like this answer best of any of the possible ones anyway, <3 for the old clerks.
