The issue was, and please ignore it if i am wrong, was that after the subject (PC) failed both negative energy and fortitude saves, the only indicator that he may have been paralised was the normal gas appearing. He was able to move shortly after the spell was cast and I am unsure if he was able to, while it does not appear to me as if it worked ( No VFX or otherwise, unless the gas signifies this) or that he had been paralyzed or worn off.
