Dory McBlatt

This teenaged girl has spent more time idling around Goar's Rest and being a general nuisance of herself instead of working the fields or the home as she's supposed to. When the end of the world came about, she became even more useless.

This was a blast. Sometimes, murdering is just fun to do :D Thanks to Howland for coming up with the idea, to the DM team as a whole, and of course, to everyone else who had their fingers dipped in this little intriguing episode. I suppose now is a good time as any to reveal a few secrets so...

The McGlitts and McBlatts

Goar’s Rest had always been a terrible place to live because of the blood feud between the McGlitts and McBlatts, the two families shared a long-winded history of abuses and violence and even the rare murder. But for whatever reason, all out war between the families never came to bear.

The disappearance of the sun and the coming of the Dread put things in perspective for the two spiteful and sniping families. For the first time in recent history, they set aside their feud and joined forces in the interest of survival. With the monsters of the Dread skirmishing and encroaching upon the village, both McGlitts and McBlatts abandoned their more difficult to defend farm homes and bunkered in the town hall in the center of the village. McGlitts and McBlatts alike shared a roof over their heads, something which had not happened in the longest time.

This arrangement worked well at first as the town hall was easy to defend against Dread monsters with the combined arms of both families. But putting a group of people into a small amount of space is a quick way to bring out the worst in humanity and soon enough the the hall was filled with the usual accusations of thefts, insults, and such between the two families.

Dory McBlatt

As with all of the McGlitts and McBlatts, Dory McBlatt was pulled into the blood feud early on as a child. As she grew into her later teens, however, she began to grow tired of the never ending conflict that she had no choice to be a part of.

In time, the hate that silently welled within her started to transform. Instead of feeling hatred towards the McGlitts, she began to hate the conflict itself between the McGlitts and the McBlatts. Though never admitted outloud, she came to hate her own family just as much as the McGlitts for being the idiotic and short-sighted fools who were more interested in their petty rivalry than overcoming greater problems.

The resurging conflict between the two families within the town hall despite the end of the world looming over their heads  only solidified her growing misanthropy.

The Witch of Goar’s Rest

One night after the survivors of Goar’s Rest fended off a wave of aberrant monsters, the survivors went about scavenging for food and supplies from the surrounding farms and woods. Dory caught sight of a strange glow from deep within the woods and followed it to discover a witch’s cave.

The witch within charmed Dory, telling her about how she had been watching Goar’s Rest for a long time. The Witch had taken notice of the two families of Goar’s Rest and their rivalry, saying she had been studying two families for over a century. She also revealed that the McGlitts and the McBlatts were actually one and the same, the two families born from two brothers who hated one another. This hate, the witch said, had cursed the family with an eternal conflict, one that had far reaching effects beyond Goar’s Rest. The sun disappearing was just one way the McGlitt-McBlatt curse had changed the cosmos.

When Dory asked how the cursed could be lifted, the witch said it could not--it could only be ended when only one living McGlitt/McBlatt was left alive to start the family anew as one. Perhaps then the sun may return to the sky.

So, having learned of the curse and its effect upon the wall, Dory returned to the town hall with murder on her mind.[/hide]

The priestess had been watching Goar’s Rest for as long as she said she had, but she had also been the one driving the hatred and rivalry between the two families. With the coming of the Darkening and the Dread, the priestess had decided it was time to take the final step in her plans: the end of all McGlitts and all McBlatts.[/hide]

The fishing bait in the Exploring the 'Dark quest is unidentified at first. Even though my PC only has 1 lore, I think just about anyone would be able to figure out that the food like things placed beside the fishing rod is fishing bait.

Edit: Nevermind. It seems you can use the fishing rod on unidentified fishing bait.
