It is not the roleplay that I criticize, it is the fact that you do not have the time to get in the mood that you get attacked during your first minute online. Did I talk about babysitting? I talked about ''be reasonable and let the player get in-game. How about 2 minutes?''.

T'was good fighting alongside ''Wallace''. And I was seriously considering rolling up a third character à la ''Steven the Irishman''. I hope we'll have the opportunity to roleplay together again.

Good idea. I often wonder if I wrote my sentence right on the channel, or if something was unclear, a bit too nebulous.

Not only does the concept itself adds a different dimension to the gameworld, it also adds a different dimension to any elf character : does my elf side with his own kin, does he seeks neutrality, or deems the humans worthy? An elf does not has much for himself right now except a slight bit of exotism compared to a human. This might be an opportunity to make them stand out and get their own colours. We're not forced to make them the classy style of elves with traditionnal backgrounds we're used to see (We can ones too if we want to). Also, many fantasy universes made it different : like Dragon Age or The Witcher. See if you want to make your own type of elf : your Ymphian elf.

Gah, you too? Well this is bad news...!

Too bad, really. I was hoping to roleplay more with you. Probably later with another character...see ya!

''Bloody, bloody, bloody star! Get lost, Preacher! We were supposed to share a drink after we end this whole mess! Who's going to tell me about the Order's hidden crates of vodka now?!''

...or something like that could be expected from Aerhyn when he shall learn the news. I must admit I was a bit disappointed myself when I learned of Roderick's death, haha.

Well, too bad Roderick's road ends here. Ahh, discussing religion with Roderick while playing Aerhyn....XD...With which preacher am I going to talk about alcohol and women? *sighs* It was really fun though, thanks for the good times!

EDIT : I have a few screenshots with you. I'll upload them soon.

Okay, so a torch that casts a flare spell once and disappears afterwards, how about that?  The goal would be to give another utility to the torch. ''What would make it different from alchemist fire then?'' Well, the alchemist fire can be used to give fire damage to weapons, whilst the torch is used to brighten up the area. (Kinda obvious, y'know? :P)

EDIT : oooh sorry I have misread the posts above. I thought you meant applying an alchemist fire on a torch. (It would have to be a weapon in that case, but anyway!)

It is good for in-game mechanical reasons, but it is not logical at all. Why I shouldn't throw that wood stick with one of its tip on fire with a piece of cloth soaked of oil, especially in desperate moments? It's also quite costly, 24 gp for 1d4 damage. Not tempting at all for someone who begins. Creativty shouldn't penalize so much.

General Discussion / In-game conflict VS OOC fun
February 26, 2013, 02:33:59 AM
I log on this evening with my character Anduinn Finlodir, which is an elf. We all know the conflicts that are going on right now between the elves and the humans. My spawn point is at the Mist's End. As my character walks towards the exit, several PCs in the inn glare at my elf and two of them choose to follow him. I've started to play for 20 seconds at this point.

Outside of the inn, those people decided they wanted to search Anduinn. We roleplay a bit but since my guy is not the weak-willed sort, he refuses. I start to type something but then the other character turns to hostile, I am not given much time to react and Anduinn gets beaten. I've been online for one minute, maybe one and a half.

It's a thing to roleplay that you don't like elves because of whatever they may have done, but it is another one to catch them right on their spawn point and ''almost'' jump on them. (thank god people waited for me to leave the inn!) Usually I like to take a look at my keyboard shortcuts to refresh my memory and in that case make some order in my pack since I died the other day...it doesn't look like I'll have the chance to do so with such an attitude towards my character. I did not felt like I was on a roleplay server, but rather on a PVP arena one. Some might tell me that I ''shouldn't'' set my spawn point in the inn given the current situation in the gameworld. Well this isn't a reason to jump on people when they barely had time to get in the mood of roleplaying : act with some decency even though you do not approve. The way I left the game afterwards might not have been the best for roleplay's sake (even though I roleplayed a bit and I did not say anything harmful on my OOC message) but getting PVPed on my first minute online just turned off any desire to roleplay. (We're already lucky the roleplay part of that evening outlasted the PVP part, otherwise it felt like a reason to PVP Anduinn.)

So ''think before you act''. Think with both an ''IG'' point of view and an ''OOC'' one. Yes, there are risks when you are implied in a conflict with another faction, but if what you're going won't bring much, then you should reconsider if it is worth doing it.

EDIT : I highlighted the points that I want to be taken into consideration when they are not.

Hi,

I got a part of your equipment from our last trip. If you are still interested to play your character, send me a private message so we can discuss of a time when we can meet.

Suggestions / Throwable torch/lantern
January 21, 2013, 02:00:03 AM
How about throwable torches or lanterns that put the ennemy on fire? It would give an additionnal (and obvious!) utility to an item that almost became uninteresting because of rings, spells and amulets of light.

Vote yes, so we can do like Aragorn and throw our toches at wraiths running away!

''Oh gods, I never about throwing my torch at monsters running away! Time to stop gluing it on my hand!''
