I guess I will have to put up with a bit of lameness, but I am sure I will live with it. We have a DM ruling, so guess thats it.

Well if its a magical (or magic-like) ability then I guess they can do that.

It still seems to me to be lame, but we have a ruling, so fair enough.

QuoteDon't want a seasoned thief measuring up your coin pouch? Learn to hide your coins better.

Missed my point. Please read my post again.

I have no issue with the general amount of coin being spotted, thats a fun and interesting ability.

The point I made was that its immersion breaking to have a non-magical ability seem almost magical with its accuracy.

Perhaps it is just RP based as Pup says? However, my experience yesterday was not the first time that I have had a rogue incredibly accurately detailing, (to within less than 50 coins), how many I had.

Not a big issue in the grand scheme of things, but when some updates are done its something thats worth a look, I think.

It would be flavour-some and interesting if Wild Magic effected the NPC's and our PC's, not sure if its easy to implement however.

Suggestions / Rogue Ability - X-Ray Specs

By this I mean the ability that Rogues have to estimate how much gold you hold to an unfeasibly accurate degree.

Its immersion breaking for me when a rogue says, and I quote from a real experience today:

"You can't afford this ring because I know you only have 300-340 coins".

Perhaps it could be made slightly more rounded, but still give the rogue-bandit types the benefit of knowing they have a good "mark"?

Knowing to the nearest 500 or so would be plenty accurate enough I would suggest and reflect what they could reasonably gauge.

At present the ability is too accurate and from my experience leads to silly immersion breaking  RP.

So 0-500, 501-1000 etc. would seem a better approach.
