New Spell Suggestion:

Icy Kiss

Spell level: sorcerer/wizard/druid 2

Innate level: 2
School: evocation
Descriptor: cold
Components: verbal, somatic
Range: touch (Melee, Like Ghoul Touch or vampiric touch d20+Str vs Melee Touch AC, not like combust)
Area of effect: single
Duration: instantaneous
Save: fortitude partial
Spell resistance: yes
Additional counterspells: combust

Description: This spell makes a creature freeze into an icicle. If the initial kiss makes contact it causes ice to erupt from the point of contact for 2d4 cold damage +2 point per caster level (maximum +20) with no saving throw. Further, the creature must make a fortitude save or freeze in place, rooting the creature where it stands for a duration of 1 round per 2 caster levels (maximum 5).

Additional notes: For animations, It may be good to use the Icy Stonehold effect to simulate the rooting. And maybe a combination of the female taunt animation and a single ice shard from icestorm in the initial cast.

[A letter is send in reply to the fortress of the Banda Rossa, marked with the name "BalestiƩre Luther Donistrophe". The body of the text is in an elegant, well practiced script.]

Most Honourable Magistrate Luther Donisthrophe,

The seat of the first Legate welcomes your contribution to its archives. The legate concurs with your choice to study this ancient language. She expects there may be vital war effort related clues in the words. Present the Acolyte to replicate the song, or have her write out the syllables as she remembers them. And bring them to the Tower of Q'tolip for further study.

In name of the legate,

Vizier, Nadiri and Principal Oracle,

Correspondence / Cordelia Ward & Aurelio D'Lyon
February 18, 2025, 08:47:16 PM
[A copy of this report is send to Soldier Cordelia Ward and Balladeer Aurelio D'Lyon. Delivered at the Garrison and the College respectively. A small note is included.]

As requested, I've send you a copy of my report on the djinn incident within Hasheema's Hope.

Nadiri Inanna Eilissere

-------------------------------------------------------------------
18th of Iyar 7789,
Nadiri Inanna Eilissere

Djinn attack on Hasheema's Hope.

Preceding Events;

Two bodies were found in the dry gutters by; Cordelia Ward, Endora Tofonia, Luzida Het and Jeannot Poings. The bodies seemed to be thoroughly pilfered. One was a Stonefolk man in chain and the other a human man with a mustache and a bandanna. The bodies were brought to Hasheema's Hope, the soldier Cordelia Ward believed they were potentially unconscious, rather than dead.

After overhearing one Maxwell Hayes in the Krak des Roses, bragging that he had slain two 'bandits', he was arrested by Janissary Cordelia Ward & Sergeant Rhuk Nor. Who linked the two events together. The man was brought to the Garrison and while they were receiving witness statements and awaiting a magistrate the central event occurred.

The Incursion

I was first alerted to the incursion when I heard and felt a loud explosion emanating from Hasheema's Hope. I was at my Archive in Palm's Height at the time. I hurried over to the location and found flames, magical energies and bodies - Among which were the two mentioned above, but also two bystanders who had gotten hurt. Including Rhuk Nor. Balladeer Aurelio stood there, with his sword brandished. Having just dispatched the last of the djinn that pierced the veil. He described to me the djinn he vanquished; Four flesh crafters, one of which a greater, with a jackal head.

The Investigation

Among those present within Hasheema's Hope were; Aurelio, Apothar Zol Nur, Nadiri Inanna Eilissere, Sergeant Rhuk Nor, Dudley and further onlookers. Most notably were the two bodies mentioned in the first segment. But the body of the man with the bandana and mustache had been warped beyond recognition. The flesh warped into a mangled mess. And many mouths on the surface screamed a name over and over "Nessia". Most notably, its face had become another face entirely. One which Nadiri Selwyn later identified as Bihl Bahn. A brooker who abducted Nessia previously, and presented her to a djinn; where she refused the pact.

After bringing the body of this mangled mess to the tower for containment, I examined the body and noticed tell-tale signs that the flesh had been sculpted by the court of Earth and Flesh at least a few days ago. Indicating that this man had his flesh sculpted before he died, and not after. The other body, of the stonefolk man, has also been put in containment, but shows no signs of djinn marks. Various consultations with the Fourth Legion followed.

Standing Hypothesis

It is my assertion that Maxwell Hayes got lucky, and defeated a careless opponent. He slew a brooker without realizing. And the body was transported to Hasheema's Hope by dutiful soldiers. Creating an unfortunate set of circumstances which harmed the institution. I advised her to bring bodies found to the Graveyard dais next time, where they can be examined by healers there. I had already heard of Bilh Bahn from Nessia, and was due to investigate him. But it seems his crimes caught up with him before we did. A failure on our expediency. In part caused by his deception by assuming a new face. As always, second hand information can never convey first hand experience.

Correspondence / Zol Nur Apothar

[The following letter was left at the desk of Eagle's mount. It seems an elegant, thin handwriting. But masterful in its calligraphy. Whoever wrote it seems exceedingly accustomed to writing.]

Zol Nur Apothar,

I have come to understand the tome on 'Abeyant Thaumaturgic Nomenclature' is full of mystical omens. And I wish to scour the context for for my own research into malefic omenology. Would you be willing to provide me the text for my perusal?

Yours in dutiful service,

The system is fine, the player side culture is mostly fine, but a few spoiled apples spoil the bunch.

That is, players need to stop repairing things they don't have a good IC reason to repair. And give that option the reverence it deserves; how much time and effort, and how much money it really costs to restore a piece of artwork. You know all the things that happen when you press on that convenient button. If you aren't the owner, you must have dang well loved this piece of furniture.

I think a "Spite Repair" of furniture that isn't yours is toxic ooc behaviour 95% of the time.

When the Murderer appeared before Grenth in the Krak des Roses a few weeks ago. I remember immediately thinking "Oh that is Cyaxares". But you know, thinking about it a little later, I had never seen that model. And yet.. I knew. Pieced together from all manner of small interactions and descriptions spread throughout the game world. It is kind of amazing, that your writing is so vivid in my imagination that I could recognize something I had never seen before.

I hope you keep writing Dan.

I don't see why barbarians of all classes needed an extra feat.

So yes, if barbarians get one. Why not clerics, druids of monks?

Accused: Sagelin Levindiel
Victim: Unidentified corpse
Prosecutor: Tressa Lucchese
Civil Defence: Narwen Alendiel
Overseeing Judge: Magistrate Sephidra Niridhe
Date: 24 th of Illul 7788
Charges: Desecration, Serious

Verdict: 650 gold fine

Reasoning: Sagelin had been asked Ytti to find 'Bruce Danebluff'. So she ran out into the desert and brought back a pile of unidentifiable humanoid meat. She indicated it was meat she had found on the desert floor, twenty minutes south of the city. She was not gone long enough to make the trek to Arslan. And there was too much meat left to genuinely be Bruce. She was punished for not bringing the humanoid meat to the graveyard, and instead bringing it to Ytti in the square. Some leniency was given because as a child, she does not seem to fully understand what she did.

Dan your writing is what keeps bringing me back to EFU. Your ability to convey an aesthetic through both evocative, well chosen words and placeables is a golden standard that I try to pursue.

A little late, but I hope you enjoyed your birthday, may you have many more.
