I had already deposited the 5000 when I approached the book for the last time, there is no listed additional requirement for the Merchant Caste.

Also the read about positions dialogue option on the book does not seem to work.

It seems you cannot consume the DELICIOUS PIE sold in the heroes hall or whatever its called.

This is a crisis.

Did not give me any option to choose which division I would be a part of. (Pursuing the dialogue paths on the book didn't anyway, or anything else I could find in the house)

Put 5000 gold in the coffer as is the requirement for promotion as a merchant, didn't get promoted. ( I thought this would promote me to the specified division)
