I was totally wrong! I actually think everyone's been really reasonable and it was just a matter of the faction proving it had the chops to deal with stuff. I would say there's tremendous amount of intrigue to the faction as it stands, and a perplexing number of ethical choices. The faction does advertise brutal one sided death, and by all means, that's how it will roll when ending sending wars.

To be quite honest I expected a bit more of a reasoned response to ending people's lives vs paying a small sum of gold, but it seems that most people would rather their PC die or roll the dice on trying to avoid that fate, than pay. This has left a sour US vs THEM feeling that I never wished for this concept, and I think that will only go away when a fierce reputation has been established. Right now I fear the concept will unfortunately face a slew of pvp as people keep killing others, and people keep attacking my PC. This is fine, but if anyone wants to get involved in this concept... I think you'll find very little mercy from anyone for your PCs. Just a warning! I think the whole server is quite bloated and ready to kill PCs that upset the status quo at the drop of a hat. This is fine. Yet if you want to rock the boat you just have to plan on not dying and furthermore if the boat tips over and you must upset everyone-- upset them into a bath of chocolate that is far more delicious than the cracker they were sailing on before...

The only PCs that I ever plan to kill are those that enter PvP against me (like, THEY ATTACK ME) and those that have KILLED OTHER PCs. There's always ways to escape this fate, even should you attack me or kill another for perfectly excellent reasons (and there are many!) for a nominal fee of gold or service or something else to be worked out between the cult and you, you may walk around like you're kurt cobain. If your PC though is built around being a brutal enforcer of some faction and you're TOTALLY OPPOSED TO VENERATING OTHER GODS then we'll just have to roll the dice and see who's more brutal. (me)

You want to get hunted by everyone and turn people's hatred into FEAR by killing people that don't pay nominally small sums of gold... until they buck up or pay some respect...

I don't think PvP is important at all to any concept unless you want it to be. You will probably draw the ire of some goody two shoes cyrcist, but that is the risk of playing any PC.

Fat officious bureaucrats, merchants wishing to profit off the dead, rare artifact hunters...

If you feel you could play a stylish assassin then by all means I'd say go for it!

Introductions and Group Management / Disciples of Bhaal

Brief Overview

This is a cult dedicated to the god of murder. Their purpose is restoring the god of murder to prominence on the archipelago and scouring the ruins for ways to resurrect him. My own PC has an extremely lawful bent and single minded philosophy of only seeking out, crushing, and controlling those that have murdered / killed others. Though he himself has no problem with the act of murder, and would welcome and encourage it, he believes that it must be a controlled act only gifted to those that pay tithe and respect to Bhaal. He believes he is Bhaal's servant and heir and therefore the enforcer of this philosophy.

The goals

The goals of this player faction would include:

1.) Investigating the deaths of any PCs (or NPCs on the isle) and  finding if proper respect was given to Bhaal, and if it was lacking, executing the guilty party.

2.) Collect tithes from those that would hunt and kill others with the blessing of Bhaal, and grant forgiveness for murders of passion that were unplanned.

3.) Rein in the clergy and followers of Loviatar and Talona who once served Bhaal, and force them to serve once more.

4.) Extol the virtues of pantheism and make all people recognize that for the single moment of killing another they may pay homage to many gods, but chief amongst them is Bhaal (or cyric, but we're trying to steer people away from that!) and he must be paid his dues.

5.) Add real consequences to those that heedlessly FD others by hunting them down and brutally slaying them.

6.) Provide contracts sealed with death. If either party breaches the contract's rules, the cult of Bhaal will step in to eradicate them.

7.) And many more...

Who can be involved?

I could see many players getting involved, and not all of a wholly evil nature. From investigators, officious bureaucrats, cute secretaries to assassins, torturers, poisoners, aggrieved victims of murder, and scholarly sorts interested in the resurrection of gods.

Thanks for reading!
