Quote from: cmenden;214365I always thought that this NPC not offering healing or raise dead was kinda suspicious! Maybe there's a reason he doesn't?

He's actually a priest of Cyric!

As far as PC interactions go, I've had an "Ilmateri" offer healing, but no one ever shows up, so I wouldn't worry overly about interrupting that - it's kind of rare that people need it at the exact time a PC is offering it, in my limited experience.

I'm still a noob, but I've gotten the impression that there are people out there with good builds and IC and/or OOC posses that will work together to make a meteoric rise to 9 in a few weeks tops.  Personally, I'm pretty proud of myself if I ever get to 7.

I'm a little worried that the people that know how to get to 9 will just get there anyway, and the people who don't know what they're doing will just do the same routine, minus one quest, once they hit the limit.  If you're a new player, you don't know where all the quests are.  And while old players "knowing" about quests on new characters is technically metagaming, it's doubtful that everyone "happens to be exploring the bogs and find out about trolls," and I doubt many people can really be blamed for saying "Oh, I heard a rumor about a tower."  It's not really the same footing, even if it's supposed to be.

Exploring for quests is awesome and a lot of fun, but also expensive and really dangerous if you don't have free access to invisibility and/or excellent stealth.  People who just want to hit a certain level will stick with what they know so they don't get eaten by Malar beasts or nightrisers.  It's hard to encourage people to get out and look around.

What I'm trying to say is, new players and/or bad builds are more affected than oldbies or power-levelers by quest limitations.  That's not necessarily a bad thing, if that's the way you want it to be - it encourages new or weak players and characters making friends, sticking together, joining or forming factions, and exploring, which are all really important for the game.  I just think it's something to weigh when making those kinds of decisions.

I'm pretty new, so I didn't see much of your character's career, but following him around the wilderness as he looked for the Forest was a really amazing opportunity, and I'll remember it fondly (and regret not having a cooler character to go with you).

I'm glad you got a cool retirement for your character, even if it wasn't the kind you thought he'd face when you started him.

Maybe the warding spell against scrying could include warding Whispering Wind?

That might actually be the opposite of what some people in secret meetings want, however.

It seems like the Monk Staff that has ambidexterity/TWF actually causes you to attack at unarmed strike damage (d8 at the level I was at) with the offhand.  It may be that the d3 for all staffs is default unarmed damage for medium creatures?  It's barely a reduction from Flurry, and the only reason my monk doesn't use it in combat is that I worry she can't hit anything at all even without -2/-2 (I don't use Flurry very often for the same reason).  At level 6 you're losing one free attack compared to the bizarre monk unarmed schedule, but I don't know that she should plan on being 6+ (or alive at all) for very long.

I like how viable staff is as a weapon for an appropriate concept and build.  Roleplay should come before rules, but when cool or stylish options are also mechanically effective, you'll see them used more often, and in general I hope to see more staves in TWF hands.

I'm a fan of spears, but in NWN there's no reach, so it ends up as a sort of  sorceror/bard weapon (simple prof, no-shield characters), but I'd make a fighter to use one anyway if I had a good idea (or a bad idea).

I haven't been playing EFU very long, but I think I've seen itemization give good bonuses to less-than-optimal gear (simple weapons, medium armor, etc.), which I really appreciate and enjoy as a way of evening out the default differences in weapons.

Bug Reports / Circle Against Good and Detect Evil
December 10, 2010, 12:21:13 AM
Turns out Magic Circle Against Good doesn't block Paladin Detect Evil the way Protection from Good does.

Of course, it's no problem for me, because my character is 100% legit Neutral Good.

Degraded Animateable Armor's  single-use power, Summon Monster V, seems to have one use per day instead of one use at all.  The armor does not vanish when you use the power, and when you rest, the ability becomes available again.

I assume this is a mistake and not a feature because the summoned monster is very powerful, but I may be mistaken.
