define

You should define, strong vs weak.

For example. Undead have a variety of mental buffs and immunities to backstab that already make them useful. So which ability are you referring to? Damage? Etc?

I know a few conjurers who argue that do to magical damage elementals are the strongest summon option.

Other summons, such as shadows, offer alot of damage but have no real hitpoints.

Not all summons are meant to charge the enemy in swarms. Just like rogues, warriors, and mages each summon has it's own use I've found in my own experience.

Though I only meant Jean briefly, she was a fun char. I hope to see your next char in game soon. You added alot to the nature faction, i'm sure you will add to whatever venture/faction you join next.

I agree that FD amongst strangers is odd.

There are always situations. Look at Igors recent castle invasion (That never happened.) Had people shown up on either side, it was known death might occur.

There are always situations, where groups of so and so, attack group of so and so.

I just think individual fding, without interaction is bad taste..

You think the game mechanics and buttons are hard now, wait till you try learning the EFUSS skill system.

Oh and don't feel bad if you do decide to engage in pvp and lose, lots of ppl here have spent "YEARS" honing the perfect builds to squash everyone else. lol

Alot has been said, and I doubt I could say it any better. So I'll just point out.

There are "ALOT" of players (maybe dms if they arn't grumpy) who are willing to answer questions, help you, and get you on your feet.

So don't be afraid to ask ppl. Lots of vets as you see have done this years now, they have alot of just basic EFU knowledge on what works with what.

My only "tip" is start a bank account. Every time you get a hundred gold, donate it. You may die alot, but it will add up quickly.

I still think it beats the old dwarven paladins who used to literally use DE, find ppl, and beat them up.

On other hand, paladins are not rare at this point in time. There are quite alot of them actually. More paladins then clerics, and I would say sorc/paladin/fight prolly tied for most played classes at moment.

For those evil doers out there, and I've told others, give it time. This server swings alignments and classes alot. I mean just a handful of weeks ago there was tons of nature ppl, then tons of mercs, now lots of good folk.  When evil finally swings back I'm sure someone will whine about how hard it is to be a paladin and take down evil when "EVERYONE" is evil (yes I've seen those posts to.)

I don't think paladins shouldn't use DE, or that they should ask ppl not to quest them. I do think though ppl should not suddenly believe someone just because they say "I have a magic power, that dude is evil." Which 9 out of 10 times, they do.

It is used alot, and mind you I have no idea what the pen and paper intention was but normally I see this:

Group, 4-5 people, alignments CN up to NG

Random Evil person everyone knows joins said group. No real reason to think said person is evil.

All know him, greet him, hang out.

Random Paladin wanders down and asks to go. (and is never rejected.)

Paladin joins.

Paladin points out random evil person, and that others shouldn't take them.

Paladin gets a quest, other 4-5 go, etc.

If this was rare, sure, but I've seen this happen 4-5 times in a single day before. Not that's it's right, wrong or indifferent. Just way it is. Evil gets shiited on alot if the server has paladins. No doubts about it. It involves alot of you sitting in town and not being invited on quests.

That said, I always think wiping out all active paladins is the best soultion.....

QuoteLets face it, they (current faction PCs) have something you want, not the other way around.

While some factions members view it this way that is not the way it is meant to be. As one of the dms said, the Factions "Should" be as eager to increase numbers, therefore power, and status as they should personal goals.

Alot of pcs just get in and ignore recruiting, it happens. I rarely see Palid Masks or Stygians making recruitment sendings anymore, for example. When I know for a fact at least 2-3 of them are online almost all day long.

Again, it is the way it is. Yes avaliability would be good, but in reality the only way that changes is to recruit more people. The sons are a good example. They originally had no one, and everyone had to app (and did), then they had a handful but it was a active handful, now they are more or less empty again.

Just remeber if your in a guild, the more people you have, the more attention your guild gets. Or so it has been in the past.

agreed

While it is pricey I agree that alot of pcs were just using it and sometimes didn't fit the mold of worshipping or even honoring chauntea as it were.

200 may seem high but you it's almost same as two potions of blur, which don't last nearly that long.

General Discussion / If the app fails

If the app fails

There are a ton of hoops and every valid (key word being valid) argument I've heard is pretty reasonable.

Yes, the process should involve more ic. Yes, timezones are a pain in the ass when you've apped and you know you can't even interact with the pcs you want for a week.

I'd just like to point out getting booted/rejected by a faction is by no means a dead end. I know sometimes it feels that way, and sometimes when you have a character's heart set on a certain faction it's hard to adjust.

Still there is alot you can do. Join other factions, become a spy, go on your own.

I've been accepted and rejected in equal measure by just about every faction nameable. When I got rejected by Spellguard (after my previous character had been in) I turned my rejected guy into a rival and had alot of fun.

My main point is this, you don't "need" a dm faction. They are fun, and if it works great, but try not to put your character on a "I MUST BE IN THIS FACTION TO COMPLETE MY GOALS." I know that's what the app says, I know that's what efu promotes, but the most sucessful faction ppl I know had great goals before joining, and those goals were just enhanced by said faction. Just don't push the square peg in the round whole, as we say.
