You could also go with the LN druid, a sort of feral bureaucrat who concerns himself not only with the Balance, but with the specific way in which the Balance is respected. This would be the type of druid who brokers agreements with the villagers, sees that hunters do not exceed their quotas, etc. There are all kinds of opportunities there for conflict that are not necessarily violent.

Quote from: Egon the Monkey;249025About 98% of the time on Ymph versus PCs, the predator gets its ass kicked.

Adventurers in full plate are the exception, not the rule. There are plenty of things for rats to eat: goblins, children, wounded orcs, any of the above mentioned animal carcasses left behind by adventurers, etc.

Nice work for a your PC here. My first character on EfU was an elf ranger as well, also made to learn the setting. Looking forward to your next.

Well, I've used what seemed to me to be common sense, and been subsequently accused of gaming the AI.

I'm not trying to start a bunch of drama here, because I have -zero- complaints with the way the DMs handle these issues. They always come out on the side of fairness and overall game balance, and they have earned my complete faith in their decisions through repeated and consistent badassery and honesty. I also don't mean to pick on Caster13, but I'm sure he knows that already.

My comment was mainly intended to address the somewhat common attitude that PCs are somehow breaking an unwritten rule when they do things like pull aggro on Orcs 1. The quest is impossible without some amount of tactics, and the only tactics we have available to us are versus the AI. It's not like we can toss out a T-bone steak and cast Confusion on the orcs who start fighting over it.

Quote from: Caster13;247706That's taking advantage of the AI and against the rules :(

This is an old game and there are some things about it that will never, ever improve. It is literally impossible to avoid "taking advantage of the AI" with the way this server is set up, and it's unreasonable to expect players to essentially commit suicide each and every time they encounter a limitation of the game engine.

There are many, many ways to counterbalance these limitations of the engine within the toolset. Enemies can be made tougher if they are too easy. There is no way whatsoever to eliminate these limitations completely. Players should be able to play the game the way it's presented to them without second-guessing themselves about whether or not they're taking unfair advantage of a computer program that is designed to kill their PCs.

I still say it would fit better with Flayer Stargazers.

Apologies to anyone who was interacting with my elf PC, but I went on Orcs 1 with her and quickly discovered that there is no possible way I can play this game on a netbook and be competitive with other players. I just can't afford to spend time on a PC that is going to die instantly from lag every time there's more than ten enemies on screen.

Until I get settled and get a real computer, I'm afraid I'm going to have to quit NWN again for a while. Sorry.

Quote from: chezcaliente;247373I actually think its possibly that they're not linked to the opening of the door on the other side of the transition.

This is probably because 1.69 hosed a lot of the doors, causing the problem where you transition back when you press W to move forward. The workaround is to have the door transition target a trigger, which breaks the connection between the doors.

Pretty sure you could write a simple script to link the doors back together even when using triggers, but it would largely be for cosmetics.

What I want to know is why the doors always slam shut in my face right when I get near them. I know it's not just me, either, because I see it happening to others all the time.

This thread has cleared up so many mysteries for me. I would have bug reported it, but I could never repeat the problem. Partly because I still suck at Bilby's quest.

Quote from: Howland;247246But if someone still forgets, they can just log out for 30 seconds while the other character takes the quest.

*spits coffee all over the screen*

Wait, what?

Quote from: TeufelHunden;247160Hell there's even a Cyricist city how epic is that?

Yeah, I have a feeling that two years from now we'll all be talking about how awesome Murdertown was, and we'll forget all about Lower.

Just increase the experience awards on quests so that they aren't so easily forgettable.

Getting 120 experience as a reward for a 3-7 or 4-8 level quest is never an appropriate reward for the amount of risk involved.

This happened to me a few months ago. I took some time off, played another game for a while, and came back good as new. NWN, at least the way we all play it here, is very taxing in the imagination and sometimes you just run out of juice.
