No I'm not saying EFU:A is a government or should advertise the rights of such, all I am saying by that part of the post (and I'll have you know and you can ask my girlfriend that I don't very often try to brag or point out that I was in the Army, since I'm an EXTREMELY humble individual - born and raised as such) is that the moderators of this forum seem more close-minded or intolerant than even those of the military forums. I simply sought to draw a parallel to those of miliary mind - and in their case they at least have a reason to be so.

Oh and BTW since you seem either ex-military yourself or full-of-shit, I'll let you know I was a 25U in direct service to an infantry company that was cross attached to a separate Brigade.

Howland let me say that I'm somewhat appreciative of the fact that I can attract the ire of the community because that means to me that I am rocking the foundation of EFU:A and its principle & mechanics.  That I am boldy and without restrain making those feel uncomfortable about the game and its mechanics most likely means I am touching on a subject near and dear, to say the least.  Let me say that I do enjoy the server, and would not be here otherwise, it's just that I see much room for improvement and enrichment of the server in general.

But since we have had a few limited conversation in the past Howland and it is your server, let me say this to you:  I do, despite what you may think of me, appreciate greatly the hard work and dedication that has been put into making a fully functional(and great) server - and believe me on this as I've seen the work and effort required to make a game server before.

I really don't have much else to add, as we seem to agree on most things, except that our logic seems to approach the same conculsion from two different sides - mine being the more pessimistic while yours the more optimistic

...since a few other people defended rogues(and don't take this as trolling or insult) without at all understanding logical reasoning, let me explain:  When the ABSOLUTE BEST rogue build defeats the ABSOLUTE LOUSIEST fighter/barb build, that is not a balanced class system.

Active
Malachi Kent - My most played and favorite PC, he's a human ranger who describes himself as a woodsman, and a man of nature.  He's been around a while now and has a great backstory, has been involved in a few PvPs, and has scraped the surface of some plotlines.  He's definitely been the most fun I've had on the server thus far.

Elrendel Melin - My wannabe Arcane Archer, I kinda stopped playing him so much once his app got denied, but he's still around and hasn't been permadeathed yet... maybe one day I'll bring him out for an event just to die for closure.  Although since he's a dedicated archer (dedicated so much that there is not a melee weapon in his inventory) this may prove difficult.

Kisha D'Elvenbane - My first PC on the server(actually carried over from when I played NWN a few years back) and a priestess of Lurue.  She has a big backstory that no one has RPed enough with her to find out IG yet... She's still around but doesn't get much play time anymore.

Inactive
Aradan Moonbow - Half & Half Ranger/Rogue, didn't really do much but make some friends around the colony.  He mainly wandered around the wilds a lot.  He became the sacrifice of a Cyrist Cult.

Roleplay not Rollplay!  Here here!

Actually for some odd reason I'm not actually for this, even though I roll some of the shittiest rolls and I think that other PCs are using 'tricks' to 'freely' reroll their HP(I think most of you know what trick I'm talking about)... maybe it's just my wanting to adhere to D&D standards, and I really have no reason to disagree with the suggestion, but I do.

The way it takes so long to level, and the huge toll on death(whether it be permadeath, 1/3 or 1/6 your XP) so when you're faced with a life & death situation you actually act like someone in that situation would

I always hated playing an FPS where people would just run & gun in, because they can just respawn

Ya I basically meant Endure Elements, Resist Elements, or Protection from Elements, who woulda thought they'd have one called Elemental Shield that does something entirely different from the other three... who thinks of these names?!:-P

Honestly I don't know why they didn't just make one first level spell and have it resist a certain amount of elemental damage per level of the caster

So no - no I have not been finding potions of Elemental Shield, although it wouldn't be too much worse than the hundreds of death armor potions I've seen in loot.

But back on topic, I'm still in support of this

Quote from: artfuldodger99;130850I don't agree with the 1d6 ones as, with various feats (rapid shot etc) and true strike/cats grace potions etc. you could kill someone easily, cheaply with 0% risk, from half way across a screen.

The +1 damage ones would be fine though. Maybe even the 1d4 for +1000 maybe.

Hi, my name's elemental shield, available from charges from plenty of loot items, potions, and also from spells.

I'm for the suggestion, but I really don't even see it making much of a difference

Likewise.

I was using the cheaper rod, with the cheaper bait, but basically the same thing.  I think a little OOC usage might be in order here(I did a search for "fishing" on the forums and couldn't find any) because you could use anything for bait technically, but I'm sure you can't.  I think it'd be nice OOC to know what exactly could be used for bait

Quote from: Drakill Tannan;130538Personally, wouldn't harm some players to get rid of the junk now and then. I do, sometimes. I say make it persistant

I also empty containers that are becoming full of junk, it's as simple as taking out the useless item and walking to the nearest refuse bin.  So if this was done maybe it would be a good idea to have something near or around the stargazer village such as a hole (say on the forest floor there) where things are permanently deleted when put in.  Just so ya know, if it were persistent I'd put some more rare items instead of giving them away(My PC isn't some aspiring merchant, he's a carefree ranger).  As it is, I put things in there anyways, sometimes some really nice items(some items that would sell for 100-800 gold in the ziggurat), and it's a shame to let them go to waste on resets(up until this post I had thought it was persistent).

[sits back and waits for merchant groups to begin venturing to the starwood more often] - seriously this may be the only downside to the suggestion, that some OOC abuse occurs for people who know items can be found there.

Left for dead isn't too bad, it's kinda neat because when you play online you play with eight people, four of which control the survivors, and the other four control special infected.  It switches every round and It's so fun to control the infected that often times people will just commit suicide as the survivors so they can play the next round as the infected.  Although the last time I played it on xbox live was a month or so ago, so I'm not sure if the community is still thriving

I've had it happen twice that they were so close to a transition that anyone walking through it wouldn't have a chance to avoid them unless they were scouting ahead with stealthed characters through each transition

I wouldn't fight one with a party of 4 level 6's, one of these things can usually tear through parties.  I'm hoping everyone who votes has an idea of how powerful they actually are(i.e. AB, DR, speed, saving throws) rather than having been in a powerful party that killed one while they watched

I don't see the point in this post.  If a level four character wants to be part of the action and it's IC for him to want to help those around him, let him run out and get killed in two rounds by a werewolf if he wants to.  It's not as if character levels should influence a PC's IC actions anyhow(Although I know this is an idealization)

So you've came to the forums telling the new players not to be glory hogs, but at the same time that seems to be exactly what you're doing.  You're telling others OOC to stand down for the sake of someone else's OOC ego.

If I am being overly callous or misunderstood the post because I lack some other information regarding this storyline then I apologize, but that's how I interpreted what you were saying and I found it rather selfish.

Quote from: artfuldodger99;129156IG wise just RP that on shapechange all items are "absorbed" by the beast or some such.

No offense, but at that point you are changing the RP to reflect the buggy mechanics, rather than fixing the mechanics to reflect the RP.  This would be similar to your character getting hit by a bugged strike of lightning that did 500 damage and instantly killed your character, and you're told to "RP that a deadly strike of lightning hit your character and he disintegrated."  The bottom line is that RP should not revolve around [buggy] mechanics.

In my opinion don't simply Full Damage kill things, but I guess on the same token who knows what kind of silly antics a spoiler would have tried to pull while subdued.  Maybe just keep knocking it down constantly and subduing it, then you could yank the pack... this should be a temporary solution until the problem is fixed, or just a work-around if the main issue is not fixable
