So long, Poweringquest. The shining example of "you should have killed me when you had the chance". Never expected him to die to an NPC, but it was an epic punch-up.

MisterPAIN, much as I like Sigfried's concept, I can't really see many Druids working for a civilised faction to which orders and law are more important than druidic oaths. Druids are the majority of the time, outsiders to civilisation. Be the exception, but it's going to be an uphill struggle for those IC reasons, and general image of druids.

I will agree that we seem to be in a "DM led server tweaking" phase again, after the original anarchy, then Banners (which did feel railroaded, but kudos to the DMs for dropping the system when it didn't make as much sense anymore), then the "Deus Ex Sharboneth", then Ortred in charge.

Also that you don't get that handy gear and pay for nothing. You have duties. This includes The Paperwork. Although I'd like to see the Armada having some unrewarded assignments to earn their pay. I see them plot and quest a lot, but nothing that seems to fall under "hired guard duty".

Well, thinking of everything, what mages could use are abilities to take certain buffs, when cast, significantly better than on consumables by more than just duration and dispel resistance. It would help shake their "easy target" status. I've been thinking of a few.

Disappearance
SF: Illusion feat. The Sanctuary effect is applied to all Invisibility and Improved Invisibility spells cast.
That would make a cast invis significantly stronger than wands or potions, since it can't be Seen past if you fail the save. It would hower only boost it for "getaway" situations, not imp invis buffing, or ganks.

Fleet Retreat
SF Transmutation feat. Expeditous Retreat now grants 200% movement speed and a +1 Dodge AC bonus.
A way to gain an advantage over haste-chuggers.

Stunning Shocks
SF Evocation feat. Gedlee's Electric loop now stuns opponents for 1d6 rounds.
Brings it up to Soundburst level.

Touch of Death
SF Necromancy feat. All Necromancy touch range spells grant a +10 AB bonus to the caster.
Ghoul Touch is good. Vamp Touch is good. But, you have to hit the opponent. With crappy AB.

Just noting, I've not seen Grimar about in uniform much. If you're not wearing the Guard uniform, you don't get paid. Could that be it?

Very much in favour. It seems just Gob Corpses, but then I never played an animator. Skulls should be able to summon floaty skulls IMO.

Actually, I was told by Mort in a tell query that unless it specifically says, you can't use it. He also said the Lizard Hide Banded Mail is NOT usable by druid multiclasses. I think maybe we need a DM ruling one what is definitely OK.

Generally I hit suspected newbies with an OOC tell if they're running everywhere, have a default char description etc and just say "hi, you new?" and if they want any advice on how to settle into the server, I'll tip them off.

As for starting without the portal, that is possible now, we have "shipwreck" and "resident" entry points.

Yup, but for anything like this, best to ask the DMs of the likelihood of getting it way in advance, I remember how long it took the Militia to get those simple, no power helms and cloaks.

This has come up before, and as I remember, "Plot" doors are immune to Knock and bashing. Is there a flag that grants bash but not knock immunity, or could such doors instead just be granted ridiculous, nigh unbeatable levels of both physical and elemental DR?

That would explain Scumbar at least, Derf.

Since it can't be altered, what I would suggest is a proliferation of no-restriction Remove Paralysis gear, so that the best defence is an ally who can trigger off one of those. Stuff that should drop in the quest level ranges with assassin NPCs.

I'd actually say stick it at 1 Minute/Turn full stop. Enough time to kill someone, not so long that a gob assassin or counterattacked PC assassin still leaves people standing around for ridiculous time lengths.
