Sunlord Andros' Underwear

Underwear reputedly worn by the first real claimant of power on the Ziggurat, Sunlord Andros' Underwear are blessed with the same saintly stubbornness as that holy man. They will give him the patience of a true saint, and the mental focus of a scholar. However, he'll look an absolute tart walking around in a probably dead man's underwear.

Useable by: Lawful only
Useable by: Paladin, Cleric, Fighter, Ranger

Concentration +4
Spellcraft +4
Lore +2
Persuade -4
Bluff -2
Intimidate -2
Cast Bless 1/day
Cast Aid 1 charge/use

--------------------

Al-Hassar's Underwear

Like his unfortunate predecessor, even Al-Hassar's wardrobe was looted after his death. This wardrobe however hints at the twisted nature of the would-be tyrant: all black, and some hints at leather. Nothing anybody but a true psychopath would walk around wearing in public. Especially wearing nothing else at all.

Useable by: Neutral and Evil only
Useable by: Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, Bard, Cleric only

Intimidate +2
Persuade -4
Bluff -2
Negative Energy Ray 1/day
Protection from Good 1 charge/use

---------------------------

The Faceless' Underwear

Yep. This underwear was that loincloth the Faceless- a druid of some repute - used to wear for all those years in the Underdark. He likely never changed it, because this loincloth has picked up some of his traits. You do not wish to know why the Stygian Armada would bereave him of it, though. Or why they didn't just burn it.

Useable by: Druid, Ranger, Barbarian only

Spellcraft +2
Lore +2
Heal +1
Intimidate -1
Bluff -1
Persuade -2

Entangle 1/day
Tanglefoot bag 1 charge/use

Black Arrows. That is definately oriented towards action (if by that you mean that we get shit happening and pound a monster or two along the way - and potentially end up in combat with some real badass PCs). And we need minions.

Well, I never got around to doing anything with this last round, but if anyone feels like giving it a go, it's here. If enough people profess an interest, we should have plenty of time and opportunity to take this places.

Since mine and the DMs' views on certain issues do not coincide, I am going to take myself out of action for a while. Cya.

[qoute]t urks me how the Kingsman meeting that was DM set up got out of hand.[/qoute]

Wrong. It was player set up. Then Kingsman stole the show and slapped everyone's faces.

[qoute]Why can't you be in the Malatesta family and be secretly funding a PC faction that you lead with its own goals and intents and maybe even will think to take over the family eventually [/qoute]

That was one of the problems of old EFU- that you could basically reduce all the influential PCs to their faction subgroups. Well, guess what, I don't want to have an insidious merchant. Again.

[qoute]how dull the factions are [/qoute]

Nobody said they were dull. At least, not anybody I can remember. But you all keep interpreting "gee, this faction, while surely interesting from the outside, is not doing enough IC to be visible, and just isn't attracting my particular attention enough for me to go through all the red tape and efforts of joining IC" as "ZOMFG BORING".

[qoute]They work pretty hard for US [/qoute]

I am perfectly aware and very grateful. But that doesn't mean they are infallible, does it? Or that all criticism should be silenced? Or that we should worship them on our bare knees and do everything they tell us to do, always?

[qoute]A+ in sucking that away right now[/qoute]

Not to be an ass, but we work pretty hard to make the server fun too. And events such as the one last night ranked pretty high up there on the scale of "Why PCs shouldn't ever bother giving a damn outside of DM factions".

Not to be an ass, but hey, when someone posts shit down and personal like this, then that's what you get.

This would have been even more cool if it had been given to the already well-established and major PC factions out there, rather than totally unknown and in members much smaller, and much more unknown, NPC factions (in fact, the only faction I know of that has been at all active in the settlement is the Stygian Armada, and the only other one with any PC members whatsoever is the Fleet). If this is another perk to try and get people into DM factions, I personally think that's the wrong way to go about getting people to join (basically a "Join the dark side, get a free cookie!" notice). But that's just the way it appears to me. I am, as usual, probably wrong.

Well, you probably know all that better than I do, but to this humble player it seems better to just leave the PCs in control and see where they take things, than to create a balance just for the purpose of preservation and stability. If you don't mind me saying so, a lot of the reason for the stagnation of old EFU was due to the extreme balance. Anything that shifted it was fiercely put to a half, and that didn't make for much dynamic factions, or pure awesomeness (although there obviously were awesome chars). To reinforce the point, allow me to direct your attention to the Rebellion, which was probably the least "stable" period on the server, but still one of the most fun to play in. And, at that, one where it fealt as if we had a great impact on the server as players, even though it was much (admittedly) railroaded. It made for awesomeness on an entirely different scale than old, stable, EFU.

It should be noted that the most awesome player faction, the Montezzis, arose in an area where there were very little DM factions or DM faction control. I personally think that was a very good thing. It made for much more fun, player-driven and flexible roleplay than had a DM gone in and made it too "structured".

But what the hell do I know? I'm just a player.
