Jessica Smith, AKA (Little Bird) Has been around longer than some know. A quiet, negative, emo personality. Always standing quietly, watching and listening...

(Quiet talks, in quiet places...)

She became known as Little Bird or Birdy...

She didn't start on day one but she made it through to the end and followed Imogen Wolf into the portal to Arcadia.

It was great fun RPing with all the Fey and everybody else that got close enough to Birdy to learn anything about her past.

Thanks for the fun Dash! :)

Birdy made her first sending last night when she heard the news...
"I have eyes, but can't see! I have ears but can't hear! I have a soul, but can't feel!..  What am I !?"
A riddle that will never be answered in memory of her good friend Nabs.

 Great character! He will be missed! :(

What I'm seeing is 10 or more people after one, two or maybe three bad guys (nasty app'd PC's). Easy fight with little to no chance of death to the mob save maybe one or two, (if the bad guys are really good at being bad). With the horde of NPC Orcs or Risers (or whatever) and only a few PC's going after them, hmm.. great chance of one or more (of only a few) fugueing. Logically, the greater odds is the better chance of success... Just like the orc or Riser PCs do when they attack three against one or two. Or are you saying ALL Orc and Riser PC's attack PC's when the odds are against them? No, they don't. They take advantage of the odds and pick their "marks" and let those that might beat them go. Just like the scenarios being described in this thread. So until the badazz bad guys start taking on more than what they know they can beat, then people shouldn't wine when it comes back at them ten fold.

Seriously, if your choices are;
"Hey, let's go clean out the sewers of all Risers!"
"Hey! We have three Risers trapped over here!"
Which would you rather do?
Logic dictates that most people would at least go see what's happening with the three trapped one's (and maybe get sucked into the mob mentality), and probably think the guy that wanted to clean out the sewers was crazy.

If you want to stay alive and keep your story going then dont put yourself into situations where you can be mobbed.

Ya know what we need. We need a suit of full plate that looks like a clerics or wizards robes (completely covering the serious armor underneath) so that the so called villains start attacking high level tanks and get whupped for their effort. Why is it that the bad guys can pick and chose their marks but the good guys have to play fair and not go for the easy win? If you dont want to be chased by a mob, dont play a bad guy. Simple logic. If you're a group of three badazz risers that think you're tough then be ready to be mobbed. Or wait, my bad, that wouldn't be fair... what's wrong with, "HEY LOOK! THERE THEY ARE! GET EM!" being completely logical RP. As apposed to a poster saying wanted dead or alive. One way will get one type of response, the other way will get you a mob that is willing to help get rid of the bad guys (who are right there!).

Seriously, Why is this mentality wrong?

Quote from: TheImpossibleDream;169616Lol yes the level 2 who watched the level 15's kill the dragon deserves some epic level loot. RIPnogarD for DM imo.

Give it a rest TID. You're only showing your ignorance to a post that's meant to be constructive.

oh ffs, I was making a comment about the OP and DM loot being handed out and trying to make a point, not complaining OOC. Frankly I could care less about potions as I tend to use character build over buffs anyway.

Just because somebody uses more potions in an event doesn't mean they deserve more reward. It should be based on the PC's level and what he had available to use throughout the event. What's the point in letting the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and unbalancing things even worse so next time the same thing happens. Give the PC's that have little more and next time maybe they'll do as well or better than those that already have/had plenty of potions.

Think about game mechanics XP... Who gets more, the 5th level PC or the 6th for killing and completing the quest? The lower level. Why you ask... Because that PC had to work harder to stay alive and should be rewarded better for his effort.

see... Look here and see how it's suppose to work.

Who used more shouldn't always be the reason they get more reward. Sometimes certain PC just may not have them to use in the first place so they use what they have more sparingly. It also doesn't mean they didn't do their share of whatever it is they do. A 5th level fighter that didn't kill as many compared to the 6th or 7th level fighters in the group shouldn't be punished for not killing as many as the higher level PC's. In all reality they (the higher level PCs) should be expected to be able to kill more.

Not that I really care, I personally don't drink them like water anyway. But it is frustrating when I go into a quest with like 5 blurs, comes out with 1 or 2 and then the higher level fighter says I use 2 blurs I should get these and snatches the only two blurs gained from the quest. [shrugs, w/e]

Quote from: TeufelHunden;169433I would think that it would be more like a fireteam if you had a medic and a heavy gunner/ heavy hitter(Mage or perhaps even a tank or priest with some sort of hammer of the gods) Then two regular assault units...bowman with the ability to do some hand to hand combat. The medic taking the place of the assistant to the heavy gunner as there is no need for an ammo carrier bitch when there is more or less no heavy ammo with a heavy gun. Perhaps the heavy hitter could have a heavy crossbow if you're really just looking for a archer only fireteam. But odds are a squad of just archers is going to be a lot less powerful than expected and fireteams are all about fine tuning all the skills of 4 people into the best suited fighting force they can offer with minimal requirements. After I get my new computer I'd gladly join as a tank/ heavy hitter however you want me if it is going to be a human concept.

I was thinking something on the lines of a ftr/??? dual class team. Where the fighter class is a primary base for the feats which should  simply get archer feats at low levels. The other class would be the polish, the part that makes each PC special (an individual), say ftr/clr - ftr/brd - ftr/rog maybe even a straight ftr, etc.. Each man has his bow or crossbow ability but then each has his special area of expertise or MOS. Each would probably need point blank shot and either rapid reload or quick shot just to be able to shoot fast without error. From there make your own working on your MOS. This force would deal a lot of damage from a distance yet still be able to fight hand to hand and with the right group of players they would make the fight come to them and be able to take out enemies a piece at a time. Without the need of excessive potion buffs. None of them would be individual PvP kings but if they stuck together like the band of brothers they should be, PvP would be on an all for one, one for all type deal.

Give me at least two other players that say they like the concept and we can set something up in IRC to talk about it.

Personally I think the chug a bunch of potions and do the tornado on crack thing is more of a point and click mentality.

Give me an organized fireteam any day of the week and I can get through most of the quests (that I've had the pleasure of doing) without a single potion save for maybe some healing. Of course to do a proper fire and manuver you'd need people that actually take their time and work as a team instead of an individul that said I just need you along to activate the quest, I'll do the rest.

Not to highjack the thread, but on the same line as the OP... If you want to stop the front-line buff party simply lower the frequency of potion drops. IMO it's quite rediculous anyway that...
A) a person is carrying 99 bottles of anything.
B) Having 99 bottles of differing potions and being able to pull out the one you need while somebody is swinging a weapon at you isn't silly, in any form of reality it's impossible.
C) It causes poor RP in that players run through quests like tornado's on crack trying to get done before their buffs burn out.
D) Last but not least it makes potions much more special. The fact that people say lets spar and chug a half dozen potions means they are WAY to common! (low magic server my ass.)

But what do I know... :???:

Quote from: Barehander;169270Why does it bother you, though?

I guess it stems back to being a Mithrilsoul [sighs]... When a dwarf was a dwarf and when 5 or 6 dwarves were something to behold. And now knowing there are five or six dwarves IG that are nothing but troll dung and they could be so much more...

Those that have been on a quest with 5 or more dwarves will know where I'm coming from...
