Oops, it's been over a week, but here are the correct answers:

#1: Howland, aka "Howlando el Bandito!" (based on the infamous night that Howland got wasted and hopped on IRC...something not seen before nor since):

#2: cawila and the Raiders of the Last Temple of the Lost Crusade of Doom
#3: wcsherry toketh upon the hilariously long cigar.
#4: Strife and the ...I actually have no idea what the hell that thing is
#5: Crosswind, everyone's favorite revolutionary
#6: Illuminaughty.  wishes he was action hero.  surprisingly, is not.
#7: DruQks, juggling child rearing and dm skillz since 2006
#8: beggar: military by day, secret agent dungeon master by night
#9: Thrawn...pure, indescribable evil.  like, the same way a teddy bear is evil.
#10: Sabaron. gets beat up by Illuminaughty on regular basis.  funny, but still doesn't justify said brother's action hero status.

And of course, the RealityDevoid pic I made without seeing a photo of him (turns out he doesn't have long hair):

I'm going to update the original post as well.  Hope you all had fun.

More obscure clues: #2, 3, and 4 are friends in real life, and #1's supervillain name is El Bandito.

I'm suprised no one has recognized #7, what with all the clues in the picture.  And #6?  What DM was ridiculous enough to request that style of drawing?

...I guess all of 'em...

Here's a hint: he's #10's big brother.

Howland's right, most of these are retired DM's.  No one said it was going to be a cakewalk.  Most of you are way off, but its interesting to see what answers you are coming up with.  There have been a few correct answers so far, but I'm going to wait a bit before I show the names.

Think of it as an EfU history lesson - the more you know about our old personnel the closer you're going to be.

Hubris aside, I really am excited to stop by and visit one of my favorite corners of the world; well, the internet. Some of my best times in life have been spent with friends in EfU (chapter 1, I suppose it's called?), and it always gives me good, nay great vibes to come back and see what progress has been made at the old stomping grounds.

Admittedly life's growing responsibilities have made it increasingly difficult for me to invest meaningful time here, and for that I will always have some regrets. In fact, if I were to say, here and now, that I am "back" and "ready to join the Underdark once more," it wouldn't be without a certain amount of knowing irony, as it would probably be the 4th or 5th time such words went unfulfilled.

That said, I'm back, and I'm ready to join the Underdark once more. Huzzah!

So happy to say hi to players who I veritably grew up with and new ones alike. I hope to see you all IG.

Bonus: Here's a little sketch of Howland I made way back in the day. For old times' sake:

Cheers!

I have to say, ladies and gents, that I found myself utterly excited and a bit over-joyed (read: too much joy for the given situation) to see a message arrive in my email today reading, "You have a new private message from Escape from the Underdark!"  That warm tingly feeling came back, that nostalgic buzz tickled the pleasure centers of my brain, a feeling I had not experienced for many years.  Like a veteran receiving a letter from a long-lost comrade of wars past, I made haste to this beloved website and opened up my Inbox.  One new message!  Huzzah!  Click...click...anticipation builds...click, click...

Cliff Edwards.  Ye of false tidings, my old arch nemesis.  Why, Cliff, why?  And for that matter, what the hell is wrong with me that lifetimes after retiring my last EfU character I'm still this giddy over the thought of rekindled connections with my friends of old?

As such I hope this silly little posting will at least garner the attention of one or two old friends, and if it does, I'd love to reconnect.  In the most adult and rational way possible.  Eh, screw it, do your worst.

Yours truly and, it seems, for all eternity,

Greetings new adventurers and old friends,

It's been a long time since I escaped into the Underdark with you all, and I often look back fondly upon the good, bad, and just downright insane times we had together.

Recently, in a bout of heart-rending nostalgia, I stumbled upon a project I was working on for EfU many years ago, in which I was sketching all the EfU DM's on my new digital tablet.  Some are exact likenesses, others are incomplete sketchups, and a few, upon request, are done to look like ridiculous action scenes.  I spent a good amount of time gathering photos and drawing these guys, and got quite a bit done, but in the end I never finished and thus never showed the masses my horrifying creation.

Well, your golden age is over ladies and gents.  I'm unleashing this creature upon you, and may god have mercy on your souls.

Oh, one more thing.  To make things a bit more interesting, I have chosen to leave out the names of the DM's for now, so you lot can guess at it.  The person who guesses the most right gets a drawing of their own EfU character.  I will release the correct names in about 5 days.  Fun!**

**(Fun not guaranteed)

--DM Drawing Project--

DM#1: Howland

DM#2: cawila

DM#3: wcsherry

DM#4: Strife

DM#5: Crosswind

DM#6: Illuminaughty
(upon request--->) (upon further request ---->) (upon begging like a sad, sad puppy... ---->)

DM#7: DruQks

DM#8: beggar

DM#9: Thrawn

DM#10: Sabaron

----------------

Thanks for taking the time guys, hopefully you enjoy this nearly as much as I enjoyed making 'em.
