Title: Unusual amounts of crashing?
Post by: Kinslayer988 on December 06, 2014, 06:54:26 AM
I am having really bad crashing issues while playing efu and I am unsure of what the root of the problem may be. Every five or ten minutes I crash, unless I am not doing anything action packed. Anyone else having these problems?

I do, regardless of what I am doing. More often though it isn't a full crash. I just freeze for a solid minute or two. Makes questing or combat situations all but guaranteed suicide.

I used to crash to an unplayable level until I was told to edit my nwn settings file to make use of only 1 of my CPU's cores. Maybe it's that.

I had this problem, and editing the nwn ini files fixed it..I will try and find the post that details the fix.

open your nwnplayer.ini file (it is located in same directory as the  game) and in [Game Options] section add this line (or change existing  one to =1):

Client CPU Affinity=1

Thank VP for that one! It seemed to fix the lag and constant crashing I was experiencing.

Alot of things can make NWN go nuts: Sound settings, shadows, CPU or it could be due to generic computer issues like overheating(tends to crash everything though) because of dust or old hardware.

Edit: Also shiny water setting can bug things up. (When there's water of course)
About the sound; try switching between the different kinds to see if anything changes, but as Paha says, going to the basics should help if that's the issue.

Set the sound to very basic setting, if you have not yet.
