Title: In the 'Dark - Total NWN Reskin
Post by: Arc on April 10, 2014, 08:43:39 AM

I've always felt all the available Neverwinter Nights skins are too bright for EfU, verging on immersion breaking. I love the Underdark as a setting. The Underdark is a dark, terrifying place, home of lovecraftian races and machiavellian forces, with a oppressive roof of stone, as impenetrable as the sky. Generic-Gold UIs have no place here. So I made what I felt was a skin that would most fit EfU, blending in with the setting instead of sticking out from it.

But you dont want to hear the skin described, so here's a screenshot tour:

The skin is fully compatible with all features of Neverwinter Nights, and should cause absolutely no bugs, issues, or lag at all. (Because its all images, and images can't really break those things.)

If you like it, subscribe on steam.

It's gorgeous Arc, amazing, truly.

Edit: KoP, you're right, they need to stand out a bit more.

GG

Only thing is the compass direction symbols need to be a bit more prominent.  Hard for me to see.  Might just be me however.

Ah, I just noticed that KoP, you're right, they need to stand out a bit more.

I'll fix that in the morning- should be a fairly quick fix to increase legibility on the compass.

Edit: Heres a fixed compass. Just drop it in the override folder and overwrite the old one. (//%22https://mega.co.nz/#!FQdn2JRB!WtojgOuA7Nq52ygTfWJGOVlFhh1g4cl_R4l7553KjRo%22)

Sorry about that- Got home from class and was informed my download link was dead. It's back up and working again! Ran out of bandwidth.

I seem to be getting a decryption error for the compass update.
Otherwise, looks great!

Thanks!

What do you mean a decryption error? Here, I'll try to attach it to this post, but still I'd appreciate a screenshot of what you mean so I can fix it.

As a guy who made skins/overrides in the past, this looks very cool -- thank you for your work.

The link (new?) in the main post seems to be working now, so no worries.

I'm curious, which one of the files affects the above head combat damage? I've become pretty accustomed to my dark red text, and I'd like to keep it from diz-e's EFU:A UI.

You're probably looking for fnt_floaty_smal.tga- Tell me if it works.

This looks awesome, and brings some dark to my gameplay, I like it. But I miss the transparent toolbar, the blood red damage indicator, and the icons without black square around it from Diz-E. Any idea how I can restore just these, I mean, what's their files?

Well, Damage indicator is fnt_floaty_smal.tga as mentioned above, and the toolbar is qb_but.tga

Just replace those with the ones from the packs you like. If you upload the transparent qb_but.tga file, I'd be more than happy to try to theme it stone so you can have a transparent stone themed QB. I'm not sure how the alpha channels on the transparent pack are arranged, but I'm using it wouldn't be too hard to pick apart.

As for the Icons without black squares, that'd be at least 400-500 different files- and no I'm not exaggerating. I'm strongly suspecting Diz-E used the icons from:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Other.Detail&id=1433

But I'm not sure, as I haven't actually used Dis-E's skin. Try that one and tell me if its the one you like!

Minor Update, this one fixes the server screen.

Install by unzipping and  dropping it into your override folder, as always.

Major update, over 200 fixes and new bits. It also includes every previous update, so no need to go through and download one by one. The main link in the first post now includes all the updates, too, so no more updating is needed for new users.

Highly recommended you grab this one!

Just curious. I have not yet tried to uninstall this, and I was concerned that it might have overwritten NWN game assets when I first installed it. Is that the case, or is this just an override?

Just an override, doesn't over write anything at all!

I put the folder in override and its still not working, is it broken?

Also! Can you upload it to the NWVault for people who dont play Escape from Uncertainty Revilations?

You put the files inside the folder in override, not the folder itself!

As for NWVault- the file's too big to upload, and its mostly intended for use on efu, sorry.

Nicely done, I've been using the Ravenloft skin for ages for a 'darker feel'!

Updated, fixing all of the glitches that were going on with players on very, very old computers.

People with computers running XP or above should not need to download the update, unless you are getting glitches. It seems to have something to do with the more modern TGA my photoshop used, and the older version it appears NWN uses on pre-XP computers. Fixed it simply by using NWN's own TGA converter.
