Huge congratulations and salutations to all players and active DMs who made the recent war plot such an extraordinary EFU event. What a remarkable and cinematic conclusion. You all deserve all the praise in the world.
A farewell to those who died. Each, and every one has done something great. My especial thanks to Moonlighter, Blue and Lannister for helping Sheppard this plot as mere players through countless hours, and all the rest of the council in their own way.
Been with efu for about a decade, though haven't been active recently. I came back for this event (to just watch on stream) and wasn't disappointed. Honestly, well done. Especially to the active DMs and PCs who enabled it.
A lot of great work was put into this war, throughout all of it's events. By far some of the most cinematic scenes EFU has ever had and it was extremely immersive.
Thank you for all of the effort!
Absolutely incredible event! My shoutouts to Ulfgrim's group of day 2, and Mirielle's of day 3. The sheer scale of this all was staggering, and I can only imagine how much work went into making it happen.
Just no experience like this anywhere else, even within the wider NwN community.
Peak EfU.
One of my closest friends is a Triple A C Suite level type in the game world. Fallout, Skyrim to name a few he has been a big part of. He and I are friends on Steam. He has poped in and out of the server from time to time. Always asks me, "How do you still spend so much time on that game, for like 20 years?"
This Event, the entire thing, from the first prelude of a conscript in a battle til today..is why. No finer communal story telling can be found, anywhere. Not in Hollywood (I know, I work there.) Not in gaming..no where. We are incredibly blessed and lucky to have such a dedicated DM team. And the player base-Everyone could probably write a novel, or at least a graphic novel!... Amazing. Thank your DM Staff, and all my fellow players. A highlight of the year, this weekend!
I didn't get to watch much but here are some of the incredible things and some of the sad moments I saw...
- The Heavy metal music was epic!
- The fight between Iakmes and Asherias was fantastic!
- The death of Cort and Selwyn was heart breaking, especially because of the last words spoken!
- The last question, sorry Mirielle, you got hosed and it was heart breaking!
- The cogs and retracting roof blew my mind away!
- To the streamer, thank you for hanging about so those of us that weren't playing could see the end!
All the players, everyone did an amazing job bringing a conclusion to this War! So many of you contributed SO much and it really showed because it brought an incredible life to server. Well done, truly!
All of the DMs, the amount of work, planning, and writing... every year you all out due yourselves in telling a rich and long lasting story! You all go above and beyond, even we the players can be more then a hassle to deal with. This portion of the story is appreciated, along with everything else you do!
Cheers,
UnholyWon
Absolutely fantastic and chaotic. A great joy to navigate on limited supplies.
Great storytelling and fights all round.
Amazing.
An incredible weekend and experience from start to finish. Exceptional.
Truly awe-struck at the effort, and the works. Both DM and player <3
The best-executed war plot in any RP medium I've seen over many, many years of RP. Incredible teamwork from the DMs, especially.
From DOOM DOOM DOOM to VICTORY VICTORY VICTORY, had a blast. Much love.
would go through orc vietnam to get served by a sassy tree again/10
This was a masterpiece. A special thank you to all the DM team for contributing to the horror of the jungle and the year long war of woe!
Also I'd like to reach out and give a round of applause to DangerousDan, Halfbrood and WriterX for a superb and pivotal part in all of it. A tremendous effort from everyone involved, I will literally be sharing stories from this when talking about RP games for years to come.
Absolutely the best plot of efu I've been apart of. Thank you for the ride. The hardwork put into this, always showed out, everyone who put time into this ooc and ic deserve a round of applause.
rocked my socks off as the old thread used to say
glad to have you all
Would gladly barely sleep whole weekend again due to Vietnam flash backs 11/10
Where can one even begin? How does one summarize the thankfulness and appreciation to the DM team for their time, effort, and willingness to create something this amazing? I suppose, like all good things and stories, they have a beginning. Two words can begin;
Thank you.
It has been an incredible journey to be here and to witness the war. I joined midway through and still, it was an insane and wild ride. Every turn, every action, they all mattered. They all impacted everything. My time here will hopefully be a long one, as this place gives me everything I ever wanted and it's thank to those on the DM staff who are willing to make it come true, make it reality.
Big shoutout of course to DangerousDan and Halfbrood for all the effort. The tilesets were amazing, and your time spent in the Toolset has not gone unnoticed. Halfbrood for your writing, and attention to detail. Marcellus' redemption was a perfect ending for such an arc.
So again, what a treat it is to be here.
Thank you, from this priest main to you!
I missed most of the war plot, but I'm incredibly glad I came back in time to witness it's last few weeks and the crowning moments. Absolutely amazing time was had.
A few particular things I want to call out, in no particular order just as they spring to mind.
-As someone who got to be a flare operator a lot, I love love love love the artillery system and huge props to whoever came up with/scripted that. Also, after how artillery had been our savior so often in the war, the fact that it came back at the end to save us one last time was an incredibly satisfying narrative payoff.
-Despite NWN's decades old graphics, some of these areas we crossed were incredibly beautiful. The one in the dream comes to mind, or when we first saw the Silverworks.
-The music choices was ON POINT. So many tracks that absolutely conveyed the mood of the scene... special call out to the ephemeral, mysterious music on the YMD missing patrol quest, and of course the metal at the end that screamed SHIT IS GOING DOWN.
-Big props to the 3? absolute bad-ass players who managed to survive the whole slog as redshirts.
-The enemy variety was really fun, from known foes used in unique ways (Whisper jungle hell...) to brand new stuff we had to figure out how to fight on the fly (bronze cloners) it really felt like we had to constantly adapt and were rewarded for it.
-That fucking laugh
-Big props to all the commanders and sub-commanders who had to herd all of us headless chickens into something semi-coordinated.
That's it for now, there's so much so say but I wanted to get at least some of it out.
I whined about the War.
However, this event was and the couple months leading up to it, pure perfection.
From the players, to the DMS, everyone was great.
It reminded me why I love efu.
Peak EFU. No words to express the gratitude for putting this together to the DMs.
And to the players, my god, you guys rule.
Honestly one of the coolest things I've been apart of. I'm still amazed at what the dm team can do with this old ass game that we all love. This will forever live on as my favorite moment of EFU for a while
Sadly I was AFK but I enjoyed the viewing spectacle it was really cool
All I could say was already said better than I ever could. Artillery system - blew my mind. Kusatma - blew my mind. Locations and music - blew my mind.
Thank you for a wonderful time!
