Title: Human Subrace
Post by: Random_White_Guy on December 19, 2023, 05:05:29 AM
After some chatting in Discord, and I know it's a low priority if anything wanted at all. I think it'd be cool to have "Regional" characters now that Il Modo and more are coming into the scene.

Think like how we have Sun Elf vs Moon elf, minor adjustments but still very similar.

Like-

QuoteHuman - Modini

Having grown up on the floatilla, terrorized of disease and intrigue, the Sage's favor comes in many forms.

-2 con, +2 dex, -3 survival, +3 navigation
bonus feat: Snakeblooded (But eels)

Orentid? Some more bonuses in the Creep/onus for rumbling.

Tonsured? More lending towards wildling life and refugee survival.

Base Human is still the Refugee/Awoken

I like the idea in principle but please, keep ability score adjustments out of it. Regional differences in culture don't result in significant biological changes.

Not sure about stats. Even -1 +1 on humans is huge. I like the idea, and I like how it could be tied to minor skill or targeted save bonuses, or maybe 1% of certain elemental DI and such.

But I think it enters more of a background territory, than racial profile?

Not all Modini will know navigation, but Modini sailor, or someone with certain religious education certainly will. Modini tied with merchants would rather have bluff and appraise, Modini from gutters, dunno, cutpurse and +1 vs disease?
Same with other locations. Northport guard having 1% cold DI and a minor discipline bonus, or Northport hunter having survival and spot.

If this were to happen, I think it'd be more interesting maybe as a feat? The same way you have courteous magocracy and some similar ones.

Stat changes certainly seem too much for a regional difference...

I think a bonus to astronomy and a negative penalty to survival would be thematically fitting.

Their culture is significantly tied to astronomy while they are less knowledgeable about survival in the desert.
