Founded by Rhiannon Kingsley, Armand Waters, Crueak Silverkin and Malark Ambelcrown in 1366 DR the Society of the Ordered Mind has been relentless in its Crusade to eliminate the Aberrant since inception. The members of the Society were a prominent part of Sanctuary life and politics for many years with Rhiannon Kingsley even serving several terms as a Red Guild Director. Despite their public presence, the Chapterhouse of the Society remained a secretive and closed place. However, it would not take long for the rumors of what occurred within the mysterious Chapterhouse to reveal themselves.

On Mirtul 25, 1385 a cascading of unfortunate events saw the Society's greatest secret revealed to masses of the city. A crystal formation of immense power had been hidden away in the upper most level of the Chapterhouse, and had grown to encompass the entirety of the Chapterhouse.  Having been stolen from under the nose of the Dread Empire several years prior, this Crystal proved to be a powerful weapon against the Aberrant. However, it soon became clear that the Crystal was ill understood; and despite it's power, had the potential to be wildly destructive.

Much of Sanctuary felt betrayed by the Society for keeping such an entity secret for so long.  This sense of betrayal was amplified when the trusted Commander of the Society, Idraen Markem, admonished his Brothers  who took to worshiping the Crystal.  To atone for this rising sense of concern in Sanctuary, Director Rhiannon Kinglsey led a raid on the Dread fortress of Traensyr; an attempt to display the might of the Crystal and her control over it. This ill fated decision ultimately saw her captured and enthralled, largely due to the cunning of a Dread spy who had eluded the enthrallment testing of both the Reformed Order and Society, alike. Distraught, Commander Idraen Markem blamed this failure on the "cultists" of the Crystal, and left Sanctuary in search of his former mentor, Malark Amblecrown...

Civil war soon followed. The Ritualists of the Crystal and the Agents of the Reformed Order engaged in one of the most titanic events in the city's history, leaving the Ritualists and their Crystal destroyed and the Reformed Order the dominant power of Sanctuary. Known as the Crystal War, the effects of this struggle are still felt today.

Amidst the chaos of the Crystal War, the Reformed Order fostered a unique and highly strategic alliance with a necessary evil to secure victory against the Ritualists: The Exile Collective. This alliance brought about a resurgence of the Society of the Ordered Mind, albeit evolved. Under the guidance of the twisted and warped Malark Amblecrown, these Dark Brothers of the Society, or Knights of the New Path, weaponized the Aberrant to horrifyingly effective results.  In the years to follow, the presence of Knights of the New Path brought a continued stream of controversy and conflict to the streets of Sanctuary.

It was not until the rescue of Rhiannon Kingsley did the Society of Old begin to show itself in Sanctuary once again. With the sacrifice of Malark Amblecrown and his Knights, Rhiannon Kingsley lifted Sanctuary from the shadow of the Exile Collective through the burning of their presence in the Public Housing Vaults. And among the ashes, rose the Ordinants to once again take up the sword and spear in the name of the Crusade.

Now is a fantastic time to get involved with the Society.  The coming months will see this largely player driven faction supporting the goals of other factions, as well as bringing closure to their own plotlines.

Most concepts will fit, and there are a number of ways to "further the crusade."  We have a fairly robust group of great PCs who span the range of the casual Oathsworn to the hardened Ordinant.

Feel free to ping me (dan|) on Discord, or join our faction channel (Society).

The Society is very active at the moment.  A strong group of players are involved in a number of very large plotlines, and this player driven faction is certainly looking for more folks who want to get involved.

Feel free to PM me (dan|) on Discord, and I'm happy to chat.
