Title: Hey, all
Post by: San Grael on November 07, 2012, 05:12:55 PM
I'd really appreciate if someone could direct me to an easy-to-slide-into PC faction for newcomers?

I'm unsure how much prior knowledge of the server would be required for all the various groups listed in this forum.

Your best bet is likely to join one of the associations ingame, such as the Muster, Clan Caermyn or Clan Aberdenn. You can learn quite a bit from there and they're easy to get in and get involved.

If you have a magic oriented character, I would welcome you to approach the Convocation of Mystery. We're easy to find in-game and if I'm online, I assure you you will have my time in being acquainted with the setting fundamentals and the manyfold magical possibilities! Along with our other awesome players who would surely help you along and get you involved.

You don't have to be a spellcaster by the way, just appreciate magic!

There are also a number of player factions about right now that could fit just about any and every concept you might have. From the L/G Paladin to the L/E knight.  Check out this thread.  http://www.escapefromundeath.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=131

it gives a good idea of what the players are up to and who might fit with what you want to play.

I went through them all, and the DM-supported factions as well. They are certainly exciting, I wasn't sure if they required some level of acquaintance with the server. It's understandable they would, given the length of time the game's been running.

From what I understood, it's expected that players take some time to acquaint themselves with the game before diving into applications / factions / etc. I thought I'd do that with a simpler, easy to get into PC run faction, so I'll have people around to guide me, rather than going at it solo.

EDIT:- How rude of me. Thanks for the swift responses, gents.

Seeing as your character would have little to no information of Ymph, it should be fine to join any group that seems to fit and learn the island as you go.

The things you should be aware of are the Mechanical changes that have been made that are unique to our server.  The setting it's self is loads of fun to learn as you go.  (At least it was for me.)

Clan Caermyn, the Muster and Aberdenn are DM Supported factions that do not require application.

Just approach a current member and learn about the association IG, and ask for support to join if it fits.
