Title: heya
Post by: amicable on July 22, 2011, 03:33:48 AM
i figure i might as well introduce myself, now that i think i have all the bumps ironed out in making a new character.
i'm amicable, and i'm new to this server (durh) and pretty new to this game as well. i really like the feel of it - its almost like a mud with graphics.

the character you'll see me running around on is yara the wild elf barbarian, if she books it as soon as she sees you - well, she's a little awkward around ... everything, really.

i'm curious - there doesn't seem to be any other wild elves around, (from what i've seen running past other players or going in big loops around them) what is the state of the elvish population on this server?

also considering getting her to join the pack - after she gets over her mild xenophobia.

Wild Elf is indeed an uncommon race, but you are bound to find a few PCs (I'd reccomend finding haven away from Mistlocke)

yeah, i've kept her hanging around the outskirts and fringes so far, avoiding spending much time in mistlocke proper, but i'm not sure she's feeling brave enough to plunge deep into the forest yet. after all - there's flesh-eating diseases out there!

plus it feels kinda lonely out there.

Don't worry, there are plenty of people who live outside of mistlocke. Just takes some time to find them. When they are not around however, then it gets lonely :???:

Hey, welcome to the server. There are lots of nature or wilderness oriented characters and factions. I don't recommend going out too deep into the wilderness alone just yet, as it is very dangerous, but hanging around the outskirts and fringes is a good way to run into characters that your own character would get along with. See you in game!

i was going to reply saying that i've been lucky so far, but i nearly got eviscerated by a giant lizard at the gates to mistlocke, so i think my luck ran out. X)

Always have an invisibility potion, Animal Empathy, or Stealth at the ready!

In my half year or so as my current character, who is a sun elf. May I just say that the elven populace ingame is at a peak right now. There are also some interesting ventures happening, however my own elf was alienated recently, but  he is recovering from his justified feelings.

Otherwise, welcome to EFU amicable! I do hope you enjoy your time here.

Interesting, well, I don't see that as being a true barrier, not really.

And I was actually talking about a bigger picture regarding the elves on Ymph - just wait and find out in game. I am sure you'll join Tel'Quessir soon enough.

well the first time i charged into battle to defend mistlocke from ogres i got rather messily smeared all over the ground. assuming characters have a survival instinct, it seems logical that she'd be a little less gung ho about rushing off into the woods with a bunch of people she doesn't trust to go fight unknown enemies. you don't have to have 20 int to consider that a less than ideal situation ;)

ooh you've got me all exited now. i guess she should start paying more attention to all those pieces of fire-starter pinned up around town.
