Post by: Wern8 on June 23, 2011, 02:26:59 AM
Just for fun and to see if this is true, please vote! Everyone is tired of fighting undead.

Yes, I find them to be very boring and an overly used enemy.

Err. Not really- Its a well known foe with lots of exceptions and facets, makes open alot of concepts. And not only that but to be honest if we were fighting hordes of orcs and/or goblins all the time it would be boreing as hell.

Dumb poll taken out of context.

I'm tired of misquotes!

But there's no option for that here...

I find them a little over-used at times. There's a wide variety of evil things out there, but currently, the only threat is undeath. Of course, we play Escape from Undeath, so.. *shrugs* More variety is good. The one thing I love about our current undead foes is that many of them are not immune to crits or sneak attacks, meaning that rogues aren't SoL in our setting.

I would hope players would find the varieties of undead in Ymph to present new and fresh feeling monsters... for example, the corrupted wildlife of H'Bala are all somewhat unique and are (for example) generally crit/SA vulnerable.

There are actually very few scripted quests based around Mistlocke that have any undead, though... although of course they are a big theme now.

I don't mind a general 'enemy' type. As Howl said, H'balas beasts are generally crit/SA vulnerable, so rogues aren't totally FUBAR'd by the setting changes.

The H'bala beasts having fewer immunities is great, but undead everywhere does mean it's a shooting gallery for Paladins and Clerics using Turn and Bless Weapon. That said, it's nice to actually see more paladins around, and for Turn to have an equal or greater use to an override perk, so I like it. Does mean Enchanters are SOL though :P.

What are the alternatives, Wern8?

We've done Drow and Beholders and Illithid.
We've done Skeletal undead.
We've done ROT-things (bogs!)
We've done Orcs (Red eleint!)

Are you perhaps suggesting that we should have some giant harpy queen instead, who enslaves all who come before her?  If I was to do such, I would make paladins automatically enslaved by her evil and disgusting wiles.  You would be in trouble then, my RL paladin Malay cuz ;)

Undead cover every enemy type. Take a creature. Make it (un)dead.

Also how can you be Undecided on a question like this? >_>

How can I change my vote to option #4?

Seeing i'd prefer less-fantasy and magic, i'd be happier if we were just fighting humans of a rival nation along with their warbeasts or something.

But meh.

Undead are one of my favourite enemies, as it has been said you can make anything undead.  Ogres, orcs, animals, humans etc.  Also there is a variety of standard undead, e.g. the difference between zombie and ghost.
