Title: Dwarf Fortress

STRIKE THE EARTH!

The Golden Alliance is a faction I am in no way affiliated with, or participating in (i'm focusing on my wizard. YOU HEAR ME? LEAVE ME ALONE!) But my ferret brain is awhirl with the endless possibilities of EFUA's very own DWARF FORTRESS.

For those that don't know, Dwarf Fortress is a strategy/city building game presented in ASCII graphics that allows players to micromanage a dwarven colony. This game is so prohibitivly difficult and frustrating, with such a steep learning curve, combined with 360 degrees of freedom to build, train, and develop in any way you want that it's official motto is "Remember, Losing is Fun."

Remind you of anything?

Seemingly against all odds, Fellhammer hold has maintained it's independence. This sadly underappreciated faction is the lynch pin in innumerable political vims and verves. Conflict and Cooperation aplenty. And for you goody goodnicks out there, Thane Durgrim has defied all odds to become the most (outwardly seeming) 'Good' aligned leader on the server.

The possibilities for this faction are currently endless. They are involved with an Elven Racial Faction, include gnomes in their faction, are allied with the Order, associate with the Wild Folk, and what the hell - there's foothills, let a tribe of Halflings move out there and build hobbit holes closer to the surface and swear alleigance to Durgrim. That would make it a true 'non-human' omnifaction.

The ability for a player to make their mark on the server is also limitless - play an engineer/miner who delves into the earth, expands the hold, and builds insidious traps to defend the fortress. Play a stalwart dwarven warrior, defending the hold against interlopers. Play a ranger, a cleric, a bard, anything! There is always a need for more Mason's, Engineers, Marksdwarfs, Axedwarfs, Hammerdwarfs, Engravers, and brewers!

Roll up Golden Alliance characters today, so I won't have to!

The interactions that I've had with Durgrim & Co were very fun. Who doesn't want to play an arrogant dwarf, blinded by pride and dwarven honour? I urge any to hop aboard this faction.

Roleplaying with this faction has been akin to bashing my head roughly against a stone wall. Though, honestly, I've never had so much fun with a bloodied forehead in all my life.

Of course it's not paid for, dwarves are cheap little miserly sensible about how they spend their money.

The Golden Alliance is awesome. That is all.

Trust me, the dwarves are effin' awsome. You wanna know why? Well, if you're not a frontal guy, nine times outta ten there's tanks for you. Walking, breathing, four-point-five feet tall tanks of walking badass.

Although I am 100% pro-dwarf factionist, I would insist that anyone considering a dwarf/Golden Alliance PC (which should be everyone) take a great deal more consideration for the character they might roll up for this group than what is listed above.

I mean no offense, but those concept suggestions are sufficient for maybe 10% of what a character should be. Dwarves for all eternity have had the awful stereotype of being extremely static.

Please, for God's sake, make in-debth and colorful PCs for this faction based around awesome concepts with rich histories. Give them powerful motivations, major flaws, and vibrant ideals.

If you have ANY questions at all or want help in creating a great dwarf character, I would absolutely love to spend the time to make that happen and help how I can.

To make it really like dwarf fortress, there would be a 1 in 100 chance every day that the fortress would have its strength broken through any combination of seige, famine, thirst, drowning, digging into a cavern full of giant spiders, digging into hell full of demons, magma, and of course, TANTRUM SPIRAL!

Durgrim is in a fey mood and keeps mumbling the words "Bresley... Bresley..."

Axes and heavy armor are optional. Playing a dwarf who isn't a frontline goon isn't bad RP or anything. They're an entire FR culture with a variety of people. Saying this as my last dwarf was a rogue/bard and worked fine. Also, divinely favoured weapons of dwarf gods include:
Dagger, mace, shortsword, longsword, greatsword, hammer, whip.
If it's good enough for the Moradinsamman, it's good enough for you XD.

I'd say as a rough straw poll we've had a good number of Honourable Warrior Tanks and Sneaky Abbathite Rogues and Wizards, but a good deal fewer of saga-telling bards, monks, scholars of ancient lore, adventurous prospectors, politicians etc.
