Basically, I have been organizing a more permanent defence force than the militia that is being built up for the nightriser assault. After the assault is over most will just go back to being adventurers or whatever they had been before this large event had brought them together. This will be led By Hrothgar, the Tempuran/Tempurian (whichever is correct, I am not sure.) I was thinking of keeping this group fairly small, and it's members should be anything but Evil.
I am trying to figure out what sort of a pay schedule would be best, as it would constitute as a job. I believe this force would be closely tied to law enforcement and run by the current government as well, though it's members would be answerable only to Hrothgar and his right hand, with Hrothgar answering to the current political executive. Any input on better ways to organize this would be appreciated.
I think this is a really cool idea, But you better start ponying up your gold. Go for it, my man!!
Granted, the militia that is being formed, is being formed with the intention of being permanent.
Not to be a pain in the butt,
but isn't attempting to organize and command a permanent military organization a very Lawful act?
Hrothgar is a priest of Tempus - who is primarily a chaotic deity.
It may be a lawful act to some extent, though who knows, the unit may even stir things up a little should Tempus deem the people of the ziggurat becoming too lax. As well, Hrothgar also values the Red Knight's teaching in high regard, as he had been in attendance at the Red college, in the Citadel of Strategic Militancy.
Fizzt. This kind of thing will be dealt with IG next time Merrip sees you.
Tempus is chaotic because such is the nature of war, not because he is particularly opposed to law or organization.
I just think that a defense force isn't really the kind of thing that would interest a Tempusan. Organizing an army for the intent of destroying an enemy in battle, yes. Developing a schedule for patrols walking around a settlement, not so much.
I'd think law enforcement would be of more interest to Tyrrans/Tormites, and a peacetime force focused on defense would be more a Helmish thang.
Maybe some sort of mercenary company would fit better. On a side note, Tempurans can be evil too.
