Title: Level 4-9 Undead-Themed Quest
Post by: Egon the Monkey on September 23, 2009, 01:47:35 PM
Something I've noticed is that the undead-themed quests, with the exception of Enclave (lol, yeah, that's popular :P), are all 3-7 max. With the introduction of the Pallid Mask undead-hunter faction, it would be nice if a higher-level undead quest was introduced. It'd give members something it makes sense to take on as a priority when not Nightriser hunting.

My suggestion would be to beef up Nightriser Barracks slightly, and separate it from the Longest Night. This would mean that it's not locked out by The Longest Night being bugged and therefore closed off.

I'm not in favor of more lvl9 doeable quests. It'll just raise the higher lvl characters more quickly to 10 (meaning me and a few other hardcore players), while a whole lot of other players are stuck at lvl5-6.

Anyways, higher lvl pcs are expected to to other things that quest around, if i recall correctly, and should they do so, i'm sure they'll get DM quests to go by.

Disagree. Sometimes you just want to log for about an hour, kill some things, and log off.

Maybe 4-8 then? With Longest Night currently disabled, your only real options for undead hunting are the Jergali Temple, the Docks Barrow, and randomly running around the sewers. :P

With the amount of undead on Ymph, I'd think another mid-level undead quest couldn't hurt.

There is always the option of exploring the deeper sections of the colony.

As well as the Enclave.

A level 9 character shouldn't really just be logging in for an hour to smash face. They should be trying to motivate people and further plots. Pay people to do those lower level quests. Lead groups to research the various places infested by undead.

3.93% of our characters are level 9, 1.97% are level 10.  Our focus is more on the other 94% of the population.

It is not being scared as much as ending up using stuff without gaining anything.

there's already even a quest that fills this niche anyways

Yeah. That's why I think a thematically appropriate quest for undead fighter types would be cool. Something different to "Kill Risers in the sewers/invasions, then resupply with Purple Crystal/Vrazdn/Trolls".

I really like the scripted quests with hidden info, and having a good IC reason beyond "PROFIT" to do them makes them a great hook for RP. Ahmed used to spam Gem Mines to investigate the puzzles there, and kept doing another quest until he'd translated all the signs there. it's a lot easier to recruit a team to fight something appropriate for your faction on a scripted quest than for spawn smashing.

Take Sinister Enclave, cut it in half.  You have your 4-10 quest right there.  Make the second half a second part to it. -.-

I like this Alyssara's suggestion quite a lot.

cheapening doing sinister enclave fully seems sort of dumb to water down the whole "big bad dungeon" being in existence, and also when i made my prior post i was not implying any quest you mentioned

if you really want no one is stopping you from doing half the quest then running away

Doesn't need to be cheapened, I'd point out that the first half of Sinister Enclave has stuff that'd still make most groups cry from frustration Derf.

The stuff in there is harder than any 4-10 quest boss.
