In the past, when someone picked up an item, the players close by would get a notice that someone was picking something up.
Now I dont get this notice and it is very annoying not to be able to see people looting chests, or pc bags or the likes. Is this intentional? Or is it a bug?
The Pick Pocket skill and the Thief Mode (toggle it in the Craft Menu) can hide this message, as long as the looter beats your (spot/search/whatever) in a silent check.
Are you absolutely sure that no one ever causes this notice anymore?
Actually I've been noticing this scotty. It works sometimes. Not always. And it doesn't seem to be Pickpocket and thief mode, since characters with no ranks are consistently not showing these messages.
I do however see whenever people are given gold.
How about a floating text above someone opening a loot placeable saying 'is searching'? (when it's visible of course).
With crates/chests you see them opening, but corpses give no indication of what's going on except if you stand real close.
When i see people standing over a loot placeable, some of my PCs greedy/loot anxious PCs would probably like to know what's going on.
That's a good idea.
BTW, this is probably my fault.. Something funky in the script making it unreliable. Not sure what. I'll try to fix it.
I'm pretty sure floating text can only be seen by members of a party (as in, the now-disabled NWN party feature).
Here's the NWN lexicon page: http://www.nwnlexicon.com/compiled/function.floatingtextstringoncreature.html
Setting bBroadcastToFaction to FALSE localizes it to the target PC only, IIRC.
Just make it as if the character said it and add brackets or asteriks to show it as an emote?
But what if they are only looking in it, not taking things. An emote might give the wrong idea. Though I understand why it might be important.
I would love for this to go back to what it used to be. Not making anything fancy. The old system worked fine.
This is still broken.
Thanks for reminding us about this spambot! Any chance of this getting fixed? xD
*Spambot msg* This is still a problem. And a rather anoying one. Any update on it?
Attempted fix...
