Rezim was faithless, having wandered Faerun in it's entirety for over a decade after his exile, he had seen as good as every civilized god in existence. He believed that all gods were just facets of one single god, and as such he worshipped them all equally. Thus, when going into battle he prayed to Tempus and Garagos, before a journey by ship to Valkur and Umberlee, when afflicted with disease to Talona and so on.
He did indeed use the rapier as his weapon of choice, though he was most proficient with his flail. The rapier and scimitar he carried only to be able to use his shield.
