If for example you have a character who is a 3rd level fighter, and then for the 4th level takes a level of Cleric, do the spells that are cast by that character count as being cast by a 1st level cleric or a 4th level cleric for purposes of spell longevity etc?

First level cleric. There is a feat in nwn2 to help multiclasses with this issue but it's sadly not in nwn1.
