Lately I have had problems with NWN 1 crashing on me. This used to happen when I play NWN2 and a few others games, but I had no problems playing nwn1.
What happens is that suddenly my screen turns black, and after a few secounds the power light on the screen turns from green to orrenge, indicating the machine is turned off, wich it is not.
I can still hear whatever music is playing for some time, untill that starts to repeat itself.
After this problem started I have updated my video card and done a virus search. Is there anyone out there who might help me with some good advice on how to fix this? Thanks.

Nvidia cards have that problem sometimes, what's yours?
Also, if you are working off a flat screen, then you might want to try plugging directly into the wall. Rather than through a powerstrip. I know it sounds crazy, but something to do with the voltage and amps being to weak going through some powerstrips.
Otherwise, I would turn my attention to the videocard.
My video card is Geforce 9600GT.
I was told that it might work to turn off my DVI frequency, and found this guide to do it.
"You probably have to right-click Windows' desktop and select Properties. Then go to the Settings tab and hit the Advanced button. This option is probably somewhere in there. (I have it under my "ATI Options" tab, but nVidia would be different.)"
But since I use a Danish windows I have no idea what to look for. I dont have any idea what the DVI frequency is named in danish? What does DVI stand for?
Digital visual interface. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface) It's a common acronym so I wouldn't think it would be any different.
Anyway, considering how NWN is a much older game and the 9600GT is fairly new, I would suggest downgrading your video card drivers. You could also try switching in an older video card. This option is also a good idea in case it might be hardware trouble you're experiencing. The symptoms you listed sort of sound like similar to what my old ATI card had before it kicked the bucket.
Doubt it's the card, I have a 9800gtx Nvidia Geforce, and the game runs fine, however, I did buy the latest store version a few monts ago, thing they sell it as diamond, or maybe NWN plat now. Maybe try updateing button? *shrugs*
Get the newest drivers. They are compatible with this card and NWN. Catch me on IRC for the frequency thing; I haven't used XP for some time but I might be able to guide you anyway.
