Title: Cross-Transition party member status
Post by: Vlaid on June 02, 2009, 11:17:34 AM
So, this happened to come up in IRC last night. And it got me thinking.

Would it be possible to script it so that when members of your party are not in the same transition as you, they always appear to be full health, and not in combat? Possibly always show them in your transition area also. This would make it impossible to glean information you should not have, from your party window.

Should be the player's responsability to act upon what he sees, not upon that little music or sword or decreasing healthbar, but if that could be done, it wouldn't hurt.

I'm always sad to see a party member slowly going to fugue and voluntarily not doing anything about it because 'i'm not supposed to know', but that's part of the game.

Don't scatter, folks, and if people don't wait for you, tell them to. If you end up alone in the wilds, don't complain if you get pawned.

Well, sometimes people can't help but want to help their buddy and forget to stop and think if their character would know what's going on. It's just that natural inclination everyone in an RPG has when their party members health decreases!

It might actually be more fun to not even know OOCly that some horrible fate has befallen your comrade, until the fighting is over and you backtrack a little to see where he went, only to stumble upon his mangled corpse surrounded by jungle cats. Just me though!

Maybe if you are too far from comrades, you shoudn't be in their party?

Original post suggestion: Good and suitable, if implementable.

Raposa's suggestion: Bad. This makes it even more of a hassle to keep track of who you're bringing with you on quests, as we players merely looking at a screen will always have a lesser ability to remember names and faces than our characters.

This is a good idea, but wont happen. You just need to be a bit careful...

* can't happen; the OP's suggestion is not possible.

There are too many issues with parties being completely OOC and in some cases necessary for script reasons to warrant forcing a party drop due to distance.

Well, I didn't mean auto-dropping them or anything. Was just wondering if it was possible to mask their status/health or give false information if in another transition.

Primarily for PVP reasons, not questing. Figured it wasn't possible anyway, or it likely would have already been implemented.

Thanks though!
