While playing yet another Halfling Wizard I noticed that most of the wizards stave's I have seen are the typical quarter staff. This makes playing a Halfing/Gnome Wizard at a slight disadvantage to a larger race. I do know there are a few for the wee folk out there but I would suggest maybe making them just ever so slightly more common.
There are daggers and a couple of other items out there to substitute for a staff and I believe are very similar mechanically, excluding more special stave's.
You're at no disadvantage, and Small races are likely the reason the common +1 L1 slot daggers aren't staves or clubs. If you want something staff-like, try a club.
The most useful wizard weapons are those daggers with extra slots, other than DM loot. The staves just have small skill bonuses and charges.
And wizards look so wizard'ly with daggers in their hands.
They also look wizardly with fish in their hands while wearing turqoise loincloths and turbans.
Or robes.
OH WAIT
TBH, I've yet to encounter a quarterstaff I'd like to carry around as a wizard, as opposed to the many clubs and daggers.
Hehe. Ahmed *hates* looking wizardly. To him, "robe" is a four letter word. More than usual XD.
But yeah, those Wizard's Clubs are good and some of the thinner skins look suitably stafflike on a Small PC. Perhaps if we could get "Sawed off Wizard's Staff" clubs with similar stats to some of those staves IG currently?
[Staff merchant saws wizard's staff in half, selling each half to a halfling at the price of a whole staff.]
I loath halfling wizards, but detested gnome wizards, and do not really think they need any aditional bonuses past the blatently obvious they already get as a small race. Maybe wizard staves are common for humans/elves because those are the common wizarding races? Gnomish illusionists hardly count as skilled wizards anyways. <_>
pfft gnomish illusionist are the true power in the multiverse

I see the PhK sights heading in your PC's direction to disprove that one XD.
Besides, this mostly seems a "looks" thing. TBH, it would be nice to see rare staves that give 2 L1 spellslots so that wizards wanting a staff can get a good one. With similar powerful Gnome and halfling only clubs so that medium race PCs can't dual wield them. Not really a huge problem, but then it would be cool to see Sugriam selling an expensive Gnome Only club with 1/day Colorspray or something.
William Bell will be turning in his sleep/grave right now
Meh I was thinking more so of just anything on them so I can have something other than this plain old stick I bought in the beginers shop.
The "mage staffs" can be used by halflings/gnomes but they are just 2 handed.
Lame TN gnomeish illusionists who use PHK and avoid PFE and PFG.
Like anyone getting insta-ganked by an invisible gnomish illusionist who is using PhK will even have a potion/be able to get the spell out/have the effect on them/the reflexes to see the casting and/or the interpretation that the spell will be mind-affecting >_>

Last I checked small races can NOT use quarterstaffs. So unless this was changed on EFU most of the choices I have seen for a "mages staff" where quarterstaffs and unusable bye small races.

Before going off and saying they can't use things read what I said, I said MAGE STAFFS, NOT QUARTERSTAFFS, The glowing mage staffs are 2 handed by small races, so rock out and get one, or just don't play a midgit mage if you want to use a quarterstaff.
I like them rare and for powerful or mages that have done great things. Not as common loot.
