This small note, written in a neat, concise hand, has been slipped under the doorway of Clan Stoutheart's Hall
Blessed Thane,
I still hold you and your clansmen in high regard, despite today's tresspassing into the realm of the Evil. Your valiant Stouts have ever tended to the protection and safety of Sanctuary, and this is not something I will forget because of (what I sincerely hope is) a rash, isolated incident. Because I am a reasonable man, favouring peace over violence, co-operation over death, I'm going to entertain the possibility of redemption for you in regards to the grave evils you commited today.
You have one day to return everything your holy person stole from the man named Jones. In addition, you will pay a 1000 coin tithe to my Church. These, the equipment and tithe, will be packaged and delivered to Thomas, at his establishment tomorrow. The packaged will be labelled 'R'. Everyday thereafter in which I drop by at his inn and find no package, four innocent children will be indiscriminately tortured and killed, their tiny, broken corpses heaped outside the Hall you stand in right now.
Another condition is that Jones, ensconced in Innocence's embrace as he is, remains free from persecution. If Jones dissappears, is caught being followed, or finds himself in jail, the aforementioned measures will suffice as my resort.
As I wrote you, Thane, I am a peaceful man. I do not wish to see bloodshed. I sincerely urge that you look upon my offer of redemption and embrace it as for what it is- an opportunity to see needless loss of life averted, the opportunity to see good triumph over the darkness and greed which pervades your heart.
I truly hope that you and I can find an accord on this matter and reach a solution promptly.
May the Soul Forger, mighty Moradin, endow you with the wisdom and resilience to walk the path of Righteousness you have unerringly strayed from.
