Shouldn't Kelemvor's clerics be able to select the death domain, seeing as he's the god of Death?
Kelemvor's domains
I think Death=Murder in this case. I doubt a servant of Kelemvor would be calling upon an undead shadow
Kelemvor's Clerics are SUn domain as they get a biiig bonus for turning undead.
There is a difference in the Death domain and the Undeath domain.
Also, the Death domain lets you call a Death Avatar. Not necessarily an undead, I believe.
I think it makes sense for Kelemvor to have the death domain, just not the Undeath domain.
Isn't Kelemvor the god of the dead, not the god of death? I think Cyric is the current god of death. Bhaal used to be and Myrkul used to be the god of the dead.

Actually....
Mr. Cheez-It Kelemvor Portfolio: Death, the dead.....As deities, the three former companions still retain what might be called a relationship. Cyric despises both Kelemvor and Midnight (who became Mystra), blaming them for his frequent setbacks. Cyric plots endlessly to regain dominion over death, a portfolio he held briefly, and instructs his mortal followers to oppose those of Kelemvor by disturbing the rest of the dead, mutilating corpses to prevent identification, and supporting all kinds of necromantic activity.......
So no, Kelemvor is definitely the holder of the death portfolio.
Cyric has never had the Death portfolio. Bhaal never had it either. I beleive Myrkul once did, but Kelemvor was his successor.
Kelemvor's current portfolios are Death and the Dead. However, I don't think it makes much sense giving him the Death domain, considering that it does indeed entail the ability to summon a shadow from the negative energy plane, as well as grant the PHK and Enervation spells. The domain also gives no bonus to turning. These three abilities don't make much sense for a Kelemvorite.
In PnP, Kelemvor's dead-related domain is called 'Repose'. It does not focus on killing people, or creating and empowering undead like the Death and Undeath domains do.
In fact, Faiths and Pantheons includes the Repose domain, and in the header it reads:
The Repose domain is very similar to the Death domain in the PHB, but is granted to good-aligned deities whose clerics are barred from casting evil spells. The deities Jergal, Kelemvor, Osiris and Urogalan in the FRCS should have the Repose domain instead of the Death Domain.
The domain's granted power does not give extra power when turning undead, and the majority of spells given with it are associated with communication with the dead, preservation, and protection from undead creatures.
As per Faiths and Pantheons (pg 33), Kelemvor has the domains Fate, Law, Protection, Repose, and Travel. He does not have the Death domain. I see no reason to deviate from this to give him the Death domain, particularly as we have already given him the Sun domain (which has a more suitable anti-undead focus than the Death domain) to replace the Repose domain which does not appear in NWN.
I stand well-corrected.
