*delivered to the hall, but also posted openly on the Canal Gates*
It is with great sadness that I behold the drive for political power undermine a clan of dwarf that I viewed until recently with great respect.
The Thane of your clan is a politician. His attempts to gain power in Sanctuary have delivered nothing but insults to myself and my men.
This I do not understand. Never have I given offense to the Stouthearts, and our goals for the city are mutual.
The Toboerski support a law forbidding drow within our walls. It supports laws to forbid official agencies from trading with your evil cousins the druegar, laws which will aid your clan in establishing itself.
During the revolt against the Tigereyes, the Thane forbid his men to guard the Canal gates alongside my Knights. There was the fear that foes may attack the city, and indeed we slew many goblin raiding bands in the come days. The Thane claimed that defending the city wasn't his concern.
Today was the final in a long list of cruel betrayals from your kin whom I have shown nothing by respect to. At a speech introducing my desire to support the orphans and widows of Watchmen and CDL members slain in service to the city, your own Thane insulted and mocked me in a manner unbefitting an honorable warrior.
Perhaps some Stouthearts care to heal this rift before it stagnates or our hearts must turn against one another. Those dwarfs I ask to seek me out, or call me to them.
However, if these dark views of your Thane are the kind of dwarfs that you are; I regret only that I gave you the honor I believed deserving. However, if there are any who chafe at the alliances with the druegar, the refusal to serve and protect, or the petty insults of the Thane-I seek your friendship.
The truth of the matter is that your Thane merely dislikes me personally, and can not see beyond the good of the clan in cooperation with my Knights. His own needs, his own disdain has poisoned our friendship.
In Regards,
Sir Dungal Toboerski
