*Letter for Thane Akevitt of the Stouthearts*

To Thane Akevitt,

Let me first apologize for my manner of addressing you in our latest meeting. My frustration at your tone should give me no leave to use the same. Secondly, I would like to make certain that you understand my position: You frequently insulted in a very personal manner both our organization and our actions, while you were standing on our property. Surely you can understand how such a thing would offend me. Regardless, I'll forgive for the sake of my apology, and we can put this behind us for now.

Thirdly, I should like you to know that I was quite serious about sending in your criticisms by letter. I myself would be delighted to know of any ways you think I can improve my work, and I think the Sheriff is a smart enough man to at least recognize a good idea when he sees it. I myself agree that the Drow should not be allowed in the city, period. I've suggested that your dwarf Frors start a petition with which to have the law altered to that affect, and have expressed my eagerness to sign and endorse it personally. However, I've only been working in the Watch for 2 days and in my experience, when in doubt, the best course of action is to follow the rules and guidelines to the letter. Today, this resulted in releasing a criminal who served his time for Serious crimes.

Rest assured I do not intend to let this city come to harm, and any legal measures I can take to continue that goal will be taken. Also know that I am always ready and willing to lend my aid as a Watchman and a citizen to your Stouts, who have done so much to protect our city and help it prosper. Sanctuary is not Sanctuary without the dwarven race, and that is a fact.

Once again, my apologies, and I hope my reputation amongst your Stouts will lose its tarnish in time.
