Find Traps

Currently in EFU the Find Traps spell does the following:

Find Traps: No longer disarms traps, merely identifies them

Personally I feel that right now Find Traps is an unused, worthless spell. Though my original NWN book states that Find Traps does +10 to search. I recommend that it be changed back to what it originally was, a +10 search spell. If +10 search is deemed unbalanced, perhaps +5 or perhaps +1 search per level. With this change, I can easily see this spell being used in EFU, unlike now where it is not used at all.

Agreed. +10 search for hour/level....MAYBE turn/level. I don't think anyone prepares it. This could make people prepare the spell.

I'll third this suggestion. I'd rather have 10 bonus search than all traps automatically flagged, anyway.

I'll fourth this. It makes alot of sense.

Fifth, i believe this seems alot more realistic and makes use of a fine spell, i would be more than happy to see it implemented.

Disagree. +10 search is enough to spot most traps on EfU. It effectivly removes the chief purpose of one of the base classes (Rogue) and makes clerics even more of a verstatile class. Spell casters, frontliners and now trap finders? No. I like it how it is now. Area of effect, uncover any traps. Dungeons are big, and this kind of setup means they can't handle every room and corridor, but you can be sure that with that a cleric with hour / level +10 search is going to stroll through it.

Thing is, its a spell no one uses in pen and paper either unless there is a really good reason for it. I can think of a quest where I would memorize the spell though, which proves it can be used in NWN.

Its the kind of spell I normally just scribe to a scroll; more useful to have one casting for when you KNOW you'll need it.

Like when the party rushes into the room filled with resetting traps, or any traps and you NEED to know where they are because the rogue isn't going to be scouting during a melee.

If your goal is to be a rogue, we encourage you to take rogue levels. Or cross-class Search. Clerics are fine.

Currently, Find Traps instantly reveals all traps in a radius around you.
