people, in the PnP dnd game, who will win?
can a tarrasque's soul can be devoured by a devourer? :D
i was building an adventure with my bro, and we went some offtopic discussion, which led to the ultimate question :P who will win?

What, are you kidding me? The standard Devourer has to succeed an attack roll against the Tarrasque in order to trap its essence, with a measly Attack Bonus of 6!
There's no way it could succeed against the AC 35 Tarrasque. And even if it managed to roll a natural 20 before the Tarrasque does the 78 damage necessary to kill a Devourer (exceptionally easy for the Tarrasque), and manages to trap the essence of the Tarrasque, the Devourer would be granted 49(5)=245 spell-like abilities. For every 5 used, the Tarrasque would recieve only one negative level. If a round is 6 seconds, this would total out to a total of 24.5 hours straight of completely uninterupted usage of the spell-like abilities granted from the trapped essence.
This is obvious metagaming, and is a totally cheap way of exploiting game mechanics, so we'll assume the Devourer is not lame, and would only use the spell-like abilities in combat against living opponents.
So, what it comes down to is this:
The Tarrasque will either survive as a trapped essence in the Devourer for years and years and eventually will be drained completely from the devourer's magic, OR
The Devourer will eventually suffer 78 damage and die from an encounter that defeated it quickly and efficiently. Whereupon the Tarrasque would be released from the Devourer's hold, and proceed to slaughter everyone in the world in blind fury.
I find the second scenario infinitely more probable.
What....
Dude. Wth? You're putting a CR20 against a CR11? The tarrasque only has to win initiative and the devourer is done for - and even if the devourer wins, and rolls a natural 20 on its attack roll, the tarrasque has to beat a DC17 Fort save... with a +38 modifier. Chances of that ever happening is 1 in 8000!
i was mere curious what happes if. it will merely benefit players in that case (neither of them has any connection to devourer or dms, noth of them enemies.... :P )
let us say we are speaking of a grand devourer ( just invented the creature) which is capable enough with game mechanics. (this is no nwn game, and as a dm i am the law...)
what, by the rules, (i might be contraditing my self, though i wish to know something specific by game rules, there fore i bent the other rules :P) will happen, if thatgrand devourer devours the tarrasque's soul.
this question emerges from the idea that to kill a tarrasque you must make a wish or a miracle, and yet, seems that this devourer can do this.
for the case, lets say that a lich experimented with soul and necromancy to increase the size and power of a devourer to create, a one in a kind, grand devourer, brought him to the tarrasque while invisible, improved, and the lich has true seeing.
the lich grants whatever strong buffs it can for the grand devourer, (always controling it, for that reason and the other) the devourer succeeds to devour the tarrasque's soul.
now, will the tarrasque die? or not?
for the using soul thingy, the devourer is forced to use it against things not importent at the mo. can a tarrasque die in other way then making that wish.
(for the same idea, i once heard a baby living wall, can kill a tarrasque)
and for the game mechanics, (aside from the grand devourer...) lets say the normal devourer met a tarrasque and drank, the "felix felicious" potion :P
