Naga's school o monsters.

Okay since lately I really can't bring myself to playing the more combat stuff. I've decided to do something different. Before I do I want to ask if there is interest in this kind of thing.

Basically I'll be playing a gnomish (yes it is mandatory for me to play a gnome that is all) lore master specializing in monsters. What I will basically be doing is organizing classes teaching about every single monster there is. Specifically trying to focus on monsters NOT in nwn or efu for that matter.

This sort of thing would be aimed more so at those whom don't have access to FR books (more specifically the monster manual series) be it because they simply cost to much or the availability in their country. (in my country for example I had to order them specially, some still haven’t arrived but I have enough to start this at least >.>)

So basically the idea will be once a week (Saturday or Sunday maybe?) there will be a "class" of sorts, I'll arrange all of that ic and it will go over several monsters, giving detailed descriptions and characteristics, abilities, known traits, interesting facts. Pretty much everything you need to know about each beast.

Would this be interesting to anybody then? I created a poll so you don't have to reply if you don't feel like it, though opinions would be appreciated.

That sounds great. If the circumstances allow it, this will certainly be useful IC.

A bestiary would be a terrific addition to the book shoppe. I say go for it!

My character would definitely like to attend such lectures :D He may also contract the loremaster for notes on certain creatures.

Absolutely.

I'd go for sure.

I'm not trying to be a naysayer or to shoot your idea down, but these sorts of lecture things have always had a tendency to be monumentally boring for me. I don't like sitting down in a room to just watch somebody quote pages out of a text file.

If you can find some way to make this interesting, more power to you, and I'm glad to see people going for characters focused more on roleplay than questing ability. (Not a shot at you, Naga.) So go for it, but don't just make it be a stale rant. Else every one in the rooms' inventory will be completely perfectly organized by the time the lecture is done, if you catch my meaning.

If we wanted that, you could just post the text file online, we could download it, and then read it at our leisure.

Yar I get your meaning kotenki and thats mostly what i'll be trying for. I definatly won't be quoting paragraphs from the books. I'm trying for a more personalized explanation of each and every monster.

Something like a certain person way back on that other server did about various planes and thier inhabitants. (actually I think Illum did that but I can't remember)

I am -so- for this. I know for a fact Erin would be there for every class, hanging on every word. Make sure you personalize it; grab the information by the balls and take it like an unwilling barmaid.

You should get XP every time you hold a class, Naga.

you said something about amking it more interesting? what about summoning? :D *dm channel* can a dm aid you and let you ( as a gnome you are illusion master) summon that monster (or an "iilusion") of that monster?

you could bring some monsters which appear in game (not necesserily underdark) and some monsters which doesnt.

and let the students show you if they understood what you tought them. my monk, for example, will pay you for such lectures :D

will be way awesome to see an erm, a dire bear, and fight it ( i recall it not that weak), etc. perhaps foreman. i will let you think of it (else you want some aid in that matter)

Alot of the monsters I'll be telling you about are so distinct and werd that they don't have any model even remotely similiar to nwn, we'll see what happens as we progress but I doubt I'll be able to do anything that spectacular. >.>

not saying that EVERY monster should be summoned, though in time to time, perhaps last monster, will be summoned.

you know, something exciting, to thrill the students... :D

Started working on this for those interested heres the link.
