Here's a small suggestion : It would be interesting when a character dies to be allowed a few last words (like in the movies).
Basically how it could work would be to use a similar system to the scribe system which already exists, or the sending system, but the player is given the possibility to use it from the fugue, only once, in order to deliver a last line to his friends. He speaks what he wants the others to hear - and the text will appear over the dead body that the other characters see, to represent the fallen hero's dying words. Of course, to avoid the dying one saying too much and starting a conversation about the weather - it should be limited to one usage per entry in the fugue.

If you're bleeding, why don't you just say something while you're at -9?
If you got killed so quickly that you went straight to -10 or less, or just insta-died, then obviously you didn't have time to say anything! This suggestion is redundant.

The above two suggestions are much more practical solutions to this problem, if you can call it that.

It's a good suggestion, but I think that sending a Tell is just so much easier.

How about you set your last words via the craft menu: something that you say OnDeath. Ah? Ah?

I agree that there are ways for a char to let things known before dying, but they don't have the style of a last dying word. Also - if a char is killed in pvp, its good to let him have some last thing to say to his killer.
What do you prefer :
"A attacks B"
"B dies"
"A goes home"
or
"A attacks B"
"B says in a clint eastwood fashion "I'll be waiting for you in hell, punk"
"B dies"

Hard to talk with SWORD CHOPPING OFF YOUR HEAD.
(Which is what could often be considered the case in deaths that take you from + to -10 in one hit.)

Maybe an Epic Death Subdual mode, where if hit to death, it will hit them to -5. Then they can say their last thing while bleeding on the floor, and you can watch them die or whatnot. Would also make a good threat one. Beat them to minus five, then walk away. If they die, zipedee doo-dah, if they live, they know not to mess with you.

or... subdual them and then let them have their little talk, then switch to full damage and deliver the killing blow if you decide that you want them dead for what ever reason

But with Daz's way, they could spend ages with a massive "I may have died, but my kin shall get you! I have friends!" Speech, then get up and swig an invis as soon as they can.

If you're lying at -9 hitpoints, feel free to type some dying curse at someone. Someone getting fireballed into oblivion suddenly saying "OH, the pain, the agony, the torment! These slings and arrows of blablabla" doesn't really fit though IMHO, and i'd veto any DM ever spending their precious time scripting it
Besides, I think some voicesets already have extremely odd on-death lines :)

So you raise a thread from the dead just to say you didn't think it was a good thread?
...
I think I'm drowning in irony.

It's be nice if there was a SHORT delay before actually jumping to the city of judgement, the ghost hanging around the body for a bit etc.
So there is time to put in your theatrical deaths for those that want the option.
Not sure how possible it would be.
Another bonus this feature would have is it would allow the player to in effect directly show the other players whether or not they were going to permadie by what they do at "death time"
"Blood pours out of X's throat onto the ground" would definitely communicate in no uncertain terms they had died and didnt want to "havd a low pulse" or any other temp death.
One thing I do miss on this server is watching what happens as a dead character, after you've died. (ie.. not respawning immediately)
Maybe you could turn on the respawn/quit window.. and simply make the respawn option send your "spirit" to the city of judgement.

Hard to talk with SWORD CHOPPING OFF YOUR HEAD. (Which is what could often be considered the case in deaths that take you from + to -10 in one hit.)
That only applies to instant kills (rolling a 20 to hit (threat), 20 to confirm, than a successful attack roll to confirm instant kill)
Admitidly I think simply using a tell to send out your dying words is fine, or better yet, since you're most likey to die out on a quest on in the wilderness, you'll likely be in a party, just use party chat. Though it may be best to put a limit on the number of words/sylibles you can use, somthing along the lines of "tell X I love him/her" would be fine but something like "The truth is that *reveals several plot elements*, I just wanted to say that before I go....erk!" Would be a bit much

Personally I always thought "Oh *too rude for EFU*" would work well for last words, but the point of last words would be to add another level of drama to the scene, being raised doesn't do much to add to it, after all, its no longer your -last- words if you come back.

While I appreciate everything that has been contributed to this discussion, I don't think that this is something that is necessary or desirable for our server.
