So, after a reboot IRC ceased to work for me. I was getting this issue: [ERROR] Connection to irc://irc.darkmyst.org/ (irc://irc.darkmyst.org/) timed out.
I tried both irc.darkmyst.org and irc2.darkmyst.org
I also tried some of the big irc networks (slashnet, etc.) and that didn't work either.
I tried disabling firewall.
I also downloaded xchat and couldn't get it to work either (originally used firefox).
Let me know if you can help out.

I'm not sure, but I think you can still connect to IRC if you go to www.darkmyst.org and click the "chat now" button, and then fill in the boxes with "Howland" and "#efu". I've had it work before, and it's gone through all types of IRC issues in the past.

I don't believe it's anything to do with the client, though I'm not entirely sure what is up. If you can check ports, is anything else using 6667?

I use a neat program called cports, to keep control of what program use what ports. Some quick Googling came up with this.
Otherwise, make sure that the port is opened in the firewall, maybe some portforwarding may be nescesarry.
