Torches

If possible, I would like to see people having a bit more trouble lighting their torches. Nothing bothers me as much as seeing people draw flaming torches from their packs in the middle of nowhere.

Perhaps it could be made so you have to be standing next to a source of fire, a brazier for example, or have flint and steel in your inventory. Or simply another tool made for lighting your torch. . . Would make the darkness even more fun, hard to get your torch going with only rags on and no fire anywhere to be seen.

Rather than making it more difficult to light torches, I say just change them to bottles of glow worms so "instant light" makes sense. You just remove the cloth bag over the bottle.

I mentioned this in a previous post on another topic.

I think Arkov said it's a possibility. I hope so!

Remove torches entirely-or have them few and far between, something to strive to obtain. After all, there is nothing like walking around, alone, in the Underdark with that "Oh shit something is going to come out of the blackness and devour me" feeling. Adding that little feeling of suspense, walking around alone, in the dark-would also put those mages/clerics/bards/to use with their light spells..........'till they run out of them, and then the party is again plunged into the unknown hoping the nonhumans with darkvision will alert them to danger......

Characters will quickly learn that light attracts danger in the Underdark, so I expect torches and other such sources will soon cease to be an issue.
