what about some items contest:

dms will ask for a kind of weapon (for example, staffs are rare indeed, yet, not so strong), and everyone invent something. dms will choose what they want, and the prize is enjoying this contest :)

heh, i wont say wining that item, cause its kinda lame and not IG at all.

i thought of some plague staff: a staff with plague: the staff makes casts on the victim barkskin. the problem is, its wood is deseased, with planet's desease. so when it makes the victim wooden, it also infects him. (on hit: barkskin, desease)
