An incident happened a couple of days ago where my character and a number of others were deputised to help hunt down a Half-orc fugative in the sewers.
The Half-orc was very strong and knocked down a number of us before running off - there ensued a chase and eventually he was subdued and arrested.
After the trial the player of the fugative asked an OOC question which has bugged me - He asked that when his character had knocked ours down why didn;t we stay down?
Had we done this he would have escaped - so where we wrong that when the pursuing characters where Subdued we should have quit the pursuit or was it right to get back up and continue?
If we should have dropped out of the pursuit I want to offer the player an apology and will know better for next time.

It's my personal opinion that getting back up after being subdueled and continueing like nothing happened is sort of bad form. If you were just knocked within an inch of your life and were flattened to the ground trying to cling on, then somehow finally managed to stagger to your feat, I'd definately think twice before charging back into the fray, in whatever situation comes up.

Yeah thats whats been bugging me - the only reason why i did it was I was playing a cleric that was healing people who were knocked down or when knocked down myself drinking potions.
My thoughts on that after the event was had the character being pursued been on full dmaaged mode it is likely the characters could have been fugued so even after healing getting up and continuing the pursuite was not the correct course of action.
First time I have been a part of somehting like this.

If you are subdualed, it is appropriate to stay down until the combat of that particular moment has ceased. Assuming the half-orc runs off, the combat music stops, and you are healed -- it is OOC'ly fine to continue with the chase at that point, however if your character chooses to head back and abandon that chase that's perfectly fine (and perhaps wise).
If your character was subdualed, and continues with the hunt, the half-orc would certainly be within their rights to FD at that point.
(As a reminder, subdual modes can easily be toggled through using instantaneous chat commands that can even be hotkeyed)

Well, I suppose one must ponder the effects of healing spells and potions. What effect do they truely have? Your hit points come back, true. Do broken ribs magically heal? Do head traumas cease? If so, I would venture that spells would be a bit more to the point. Now, if you just used some herbs and kept running the result would be different. But I think to truely answer this we must know the nature of spells and potions other than restoring hit points.

Thanks for the replies
In hindsight my character should have stopped the pursuit and will know for future reference.
To the Player of Vurk - my apologies your character should have gotten away rather than being captured as you manged to subdue each of the pursuers at one point or another.
