dunno if it exists or not, but it would gladly be useful; // like putting a stone in the scribe'S office that does it? or in townhall? or.. , I dont know how to code it; but I know it is possible, since I have seen it in another PW.
anyway, I think it would be nice for people who put NIL in description, so they can have a proper description, which is not 10 page long, and such... or to change description midway to fit your equipment.. and such and such..
endless possibilities ;)

i'm pretty sure you just can't do it due to hardcoding and all that stuff. If you can though, i'm all for it.

It *can* be done, but is enormously difficult and requires not only custom scripts but the addition of external programs. It is by far one of those PITA things that I can't see being worth the time or effort.

AFAIK, the process is akin to creating a text string, exporting it to a db, having a trigger then create an object of the same type in the toolset with the new description, throwing the item on a dm-type player, loading the player into the game, getting the item from that loaded player, and exchanging it then for the item in someone inventory.
It's complicated. Also, how could this realisticly be used? The item's description represents exactly what the item is. I'm having trouble coming up with a reason to change that.

I agree it would be handy... but I also believe the DMs are happy to change your PC description if you make a request and write it out for them etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Its especially useful if something dramatic happens to your PC that alters their physical appearance... like torture, becoming lame, massive scars etc.

It would be great to be able to change these descriptions automatically. I am loathe to ask the Dms to change descriptions on characters as they have enough work load already without adding to it.
if anyone can come up with a way of changing descriptions on characters I am all for it.

Oh, that is different. To my knowledge, EfU has stayed away from LetoScript.
it has been said before, here, and previously, that descriptions can be changed on a case by case basis for good reason, but everyone switching theirs around....meh. I think it should stay that you need a good reason to change it. Besides, it's not something that everyone sees/looks at, therefore, you're not restricted to playing by it. Emotes work wonders to get the point across that you have a scarred face, are carrying a giant scythe on your back, or have giant tentacles instead of hands.

On the other hand enough people do use the descriptions in their Roleplay I think to be able to warrant it - and having the facility there will allow you to reflect more readily where your character is at and their current deameanor.
Emoting is good but it gets tiresome to have to continually emote a particular condition which if you do do it that way nees to be done everytime you come across someone new.
As Chezcaliente said it is useful for when big changes occur - but also for small changes that are temporary and you don;t need to disturb the DMs continually.

Yeah, the main point would be to do it without DM intervention/extra workload.
Also, is there a way to see your charcter's own description? I frankly forget what I wrote there months ago, but that would be the first step to initiate a change. Maybe putting a mirror somewhere (inns? guildhouses?) which is scripted to show your own character description would be a nice addition.

Right-click your toolbar, get to Assign Use (6 o'clock, downmost), then Assign Examine.

Thanks Coldburn!
Still, a mirror would be a nice addition. (Although not a priority.) Having it as an item could have other uses, like use it on yourself, get your description, using it on a monster helps against its gaze attack.
