I was so excited when I leveled up to 3! Only to get get pwned by an assclown in the crypts...twice. I thought I would redeem myself by killing the beetles at the mine. Dead wrong.
When all is said and done, I think I lost about 2000 XP. When you are currently at 1985 XP, it hurts.
I have been trying to get people to go along with me and stuff, but I still haven't found a real complement to my playing style. I am rather a straightforward, task oriented player. Don't get me wrong, I love to RP, but it is usually over a mug of ale when we are rolling in the riches from our reward.
I don't want to sound like I am resorting to begging, but if there is any other "task oriented" and fair players/characters that wouldn't mind taking in a half-orc with a heart of gold (and a head of rocks, lol), please look me up. I am getting my ass kicked pretty bad, lol!

There are a number of delivery "quests" you can take all over Sanctuary. They're a decent bit of experience for low level characters, and if you find most of them you might get about three hundred experience total. As long as you don't chain all of these together the moment there's a crash/reset, it's not too wrong to do a few each day- so I heard from a DM when I started playing; the policy may have changed since then? Might want to check just in case.
(Pst, if your character hates duergar or something, don't deliver their goods! Just to be as In Character as possible, y'know?)

Excessive questing has its dangers. You should always make sure you're well stocked for the next venture, particularly if your role is generally that of a tank. If or when you die, the worst you can do is try to immediately regain the lost XP "at any cost", because likely it will cost you a lot more if you don't keep your head cool.

Being adequately supplied, and using your head, is the key to survival. I'm sure you'll find some people to quest with you though. You could try making a sending explaining you're new and looking for work around town. Otherwise the Rock Bottom and Crone are both good places to find people. If you see a PC in a faction uniform, you should feel particularly free to approach them and ask them for advice (most of them would probably be too high level to actually quest with you, though), since it is an OOC expectation that faction PCs will make a little time to help out someone new to the server.
Good luck!

First off welcome to th eserver.
Second, I know what you mean about it being tough at low levels. I remember venturing off alone into the Underdark as a level 4 thinking, that my character was strong enough to survive alone: I was wrong.
Thats ok because I was able to RP some people to help me get my things back when I had to abandon them in the underdark. It was fun because I actualy met MORE people that way through a 'real life plight' than through any OOC motivation. Sadly as things go on this server, many of those characters have died off, but I learned a valuable lesson on this server.: 1.) the underdark is NOT to be traveled alone and 2.) there are always other players who are willing to help out ICly.
