A letter for Agent Ferrington at the Spellguard Enclave

Agent Ferrington,

I would like to express my concerns regarding the investigation I told you about. It would seem that an employee of the Crone is "investigating" as well. After he used his status to detain me in the Crone I saw him enter the Tigereye fortress across the street. I no longer board at the Crone, and I am currently sleeping on a mat in the Steady Hand, well in the barman's view. I fear I may not be able to live in Lower if this man tries to slander my name with false or warped charges.

I understand that I cannot ask for any official support, and I expect you to urge me to stay at the Rock Bottom at least until things settle. However, I must confess that activities by the Watch and possibly even a member of the Spellguard makes me more willing to risk it in Lower. I do not wish to place further information in a letter.

There is one last thing. The Watch Sheriff must be guarded carefully, and by people who niether dislike nor support Sergeant Marshall. Any harm brought to him will most likely be interperated as her desire to seize power. Surrounding him with Marshall's friends would be seen as foolish, and there's the off chance she is truly scheming.

Signed, The Lower Conjurer Aspirant

[Agent Ferrington reads the notice before folding it in half and leaving it flatly on his desk. He makes a notation in his notebook.]
